I can only speak for Fauconberg Road as I contacted the council recently to alert them to a large mature tree that is hollow and decayed at the base, in close proximity to houses and shops etc. The council representative explained that after the recent storms, they reinspected the trees and have found a few of them to be unsafe ("identified as having large cavities and hollows and a further two show evidence of extensive fungal fruiting bodies which can lead to root decay") and needing attention and in some cases removal. He also explained that where a tree is unsafe and needs removal, they have replanting plans.
