Chiswick cemetry Staveley Road

My husband has been issued with 3 £35 traffic violation notices following a recent trip to London where he went to visit his Mom's grave in New Chiswick Cemetry on Staveley Road. We moved to Bournemouth from Chiswick a year ago. Is anyone aware that there have been rules introduced that you are allowed to take a car into the Cemetry when visiting a loved one? We are a bit perplexed by the fines. Thanks

Guessing you must have driven into Staveley Road to access the cemetry.  Could this be the reason you were issued with a fine......The new access restriction to general traffic on Staveley Road will operate from 8am to 7pm, Mondays to Saturdays, except for buses and permit holders.

I was told that you could go to the cemetery as long as you entered and left by the A316 but you would be fined if you came into Staveley Road by the junction with Burlington Lane. This is information I've shared with someone who was planning to visit a grave so please could it be confirmed that it is correct?

Thanks for your responses. He entered Staveley Road by turning right off the A316. I guess we are now living in an age where someone who has been recently bereaved and who was in Chiswick to say goodbye to his Mom's flat prior to it being sold as part of the probate process, needs to remember to buy a permit so he can access the road to a public cemetry to spend some time at her graveside...

Have found the following via this link... don't know if anything has changed...https://chiswickcalendar.co.uk/new-traffic-restrictions-come-into-force-in-grove-park/Access the Chiswick School, Sports Centre and cemeteryThe restriction starts northwest of the access to Chiswick Sports Centre, so entry to Staveley Rd from the A316 for access to the school entrance, the sports facilities and the cemetery entrance nearer the A316 junction, is still permitted. Access to the allotments is also permitted for members of the Chiswick Horticultural and Allotment Society.

Thanks, Richard G.  I would indeed be pleased to advise Jane, and have sent her an email.It would be worth trying to get the three PCNs reduced to one if they are for essentially the same violation, even if Hounslow don't accept an argument to cancel all of them.

Send the PCNS to Cllr Hanif Khan, he is responsible for this fiasco.  His email is on the Hounslow website and is hanif.khan@hounslow.gov.uk.He is now standing in Chiswick, as his existing ward rejected him.  Mr Jennings will be able to advise, but there is a significant human rights issue here.  Why would anyone living in Bournemouth know that they could not visit a Cemetery they had been visiting for years and that once they had left the cemetery, after a deep and personal experience, that they should remember to not turn left into Staveley rd and Grove Park.

We only live in Isleworth and we had to think! Both sets of parents being buried in Chiswick Cemetery and visiting quite often, and we were completely puzzled. We turned left off the A316 going and then right back on to it when we left, and that was a guess. God alone knows how/where funerals are supposed to access the cemetery.

Buy a copy of the Highway Code (£4.99 on Amazon), learn the roadsigns therein, thus avoid getting fined no matter wherever you go.

I visit the Chiswick new cemetery very frequently.as Long as you enter and leave via the A316 traffic lights you will not get any ticket for doing so.You can also visit the Chiswick School sports hall the same way, as the camera is located past the entrance to the hall

Great life hack John. Stick it to those Councils trying to dupe the innocent motorists into paying fines by understanding road signs, looking for them and obeying them. Cunning and rebellious.

It was mention in a letter from the council about cemetery fees, that there's an increase in people from outside the Borough wishing to be buried in the Chiswick new cemetery.If anyone who visits regularly will notice how quickly the Cemetery is filling up.If it continues at the present rate I can see in the next couple of years some of the Staveley Road allotments dispersing to make way for the cemetery to enlarge.The Staveley Road allotments are sitting on the Cemetery Land until its needed and I bet most allotment holders don't know that.If the burials continue at the rate they are at the moment I can see the cemetery will need to expand.Its so sad to see so many people loosing there lives for what ever reason over these last 3 or 4 years.

When we were arranging to bury my MIL many years ago, she was, at the time,  an Ealing Borough resident. However, we were arranging for her to be buried in Hounslow Borough. Hounslow made a charge, quite a lot as I recall, because they said she was being buried  in a space intended for a Hounslow resident. We explained that she was in fact being buried in a family plot, in a space reserved for her. They said, well  you have to pay anyway. Money grabbing under false pretences. Never got over the callousness at such a difficult time . Rotten through and through then and now.

If you are visiting a cemetery getting a fine after paying your respects leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. I hope Hounslow use the discretion available to them to cancel the PCN. The amount of money is irrelevant.

That is absolutely correct.  This example proves the flaw with the scheme.  In the same way that allotment holders get a permit so should people who visit the Cemetery.  The new Cabinet free from the shackles of Curran and his cronies should address policies on this pronto and work with the broader community groups, not the narrow interest cycle lobby.Councillor Khan has a lot to answer for.
