Here is a good article from The Guardian. Good because it completely tallies with my views, which is always reassuring. In particular this bit and the bit about opponents of traffic restrictions being in the minority every time there is polling on the topic:"For all that, though, it’s hard to shake the suspicion that at least some of the hysteria is just that people don’t like being inconvenienced. As well as stories of angry protests and vandalised planters, the past two years have brought footage of cars literally driving on the pavement to bypass an obstacle, rather than accepting that this route is now closed to them.
