I am looking for recommendations for local dance shoe shops! Irish (pumps and hard) and demi-pointe in particular.

The issue is it has been a while since I've been measured properly, before moving back to London. If I get these first pairs, then mail order may well be the way to go. Thank you for the tip.

There is a dance outfitters on Pitshanger Lane which I think is called Innovations.  They have been there for years, and I am sure if they can't help, they will be able to tell you where you can find what you're looking for.

Someone earlier recommended Freeds.  It is at 94 St Martin's Ln, London WC2N 4AT, Tel: 020 7240 0432It's a brilliant place - I used to look longingly in their windows when I was a child 60 years ago, but in fact it was established almost a century ago back in 1929!If you call them I am sure they will be able to help.

As I said above, Rae.  I get all my shoes from them, and have since as a teenager I got my first soft ballet and then glossy ballet pointe shoes - that incredibly exciting day -  from them as I progressed up the ballet ladder!  These days I get very comfortable ballet flats as with my back problem I can't wear heels. They are gloriously comfy and in a very wide range of colours.  They just post them to me.

We have used Freed & Dancia. Both in Covent Garden. Very professional.

As I will need a fitting, the St Martins Lane may well be the easiest for me to get to during a lunch break, but may look inti the Covent Garden recommendations at some point too. Thanks, everyone!
