There used to be funny adverts on tv- no longer- does anyone remember the funny and clever adverts on tv- no longer - now boring - sad because they used to make us laugh- now I just switch off

Yes we would watch them and made us watch and think and laughs !! No more - they just think we would be interested now .

I record everything on the Tivo and fast forward through the ads. And the 'Previously'. I'm old enough to remember when there were no 'Previously's and we were deemed able to remember what had happened last week.

Most of the time it’s not obvious what they’re advertising ! Definitely not up to the standards of years ago IMO

Agree - we sit in total bewilderment at exactly what the product is that is being advertised. The other thing that really winds me up are these silly 'warnings' before some programmes, generally soaps, about some viewers may be upset, get a grip! The news is generally far worse and that's real life.

My particular 'hates' commercial wise are Verisure, bingo / gambling and Fairy products commercials 🙈 completely lacking in humour, wit and interest
I need a TV or set top box that detects advert transmission and just drops the volume to a user pre determined setting that you set in the options. Then magically restores the vol level to whatever it was before the drop. I would call this smart listening. If that's too much then will settle for a voice command to do the same.

I turn down the sound while the ads are on.

Yes the adverts seem louder than ever these days and mostly seem more annoying than they used to be. Also there are more of them when watching on the ITV hub.

The most irritating voice is the sing song voice of the Vodaphone woman. Some ads turn me totally against the product.

Personally, I would ban gambling adverts, especially the ones that offer free bets
I wouldn't ban them. They should take the revenue from the ad bookings but explain that there is no certainty they will be shown , it depends on chance :-)
On Classic FM the sound and content of advertisements...is often incompatible with the style of the music just played.

All car advertisements should be filmed on the M20 near Dover with all the jams - not on a sweeping sea view, empty mountain road in Italy.

Nice one Andrew. The celebs like Harry Redknapp have probably known people who have issues with gambling, so I’m surprised they promote it. I could be wrong 🤷♀️
It's all down to budget. Years ago there were only three commercial channels so TV ad budgets went a long way. Now there are 250 plus channels but the budget is the same so it's a case of quantity over quality.

That makes sense. I suppose there’s a chance bad adverts work, if only by getting their name out there
Maggie Dodge ● 1634d
“ if only by getting their name out there”But also the chance that if people find the add so bad or offensive / an insult to their integrity, they will boycott the product.

The one that drives me mad is the NHS ad with that man carrying around an empty Jack in the box. Whoever thought of that?!!!!

So many bad ones I wouldn’t know where to start. Most don’t offend they’re just not something I want to watch
