The ludicrous location of these signs means that, even if drivers see them, they have nowhere else to go, and there's no visible chicane or narrowing of the road to reinforce the restriction. The only legitimate response is to turn round in the road. I'd have thought a restriction like this should always be at a junction where an alternative permitted route is readily available. What do the regulations say? The obvious place to meet that requirement would be at the end of Hartington at its junction with the A316 and maybe fewer people would then get caught out.
