I thought it was extremely biased good old BBC yet again, I do love a good debate based upon facts not pure emotion. Every country has rising costs of living, supply chain, pandemic and now Ukraine is adding to the challenge so would apply to any government in power. P&O ferries NOT not connected to Cruises are following maritime law/wage plus we’re ships are registered. What they did was wrong but can’t blame the government. Maritime law operates in international waters so nothing to do with UK law.

I believe Grant Shapps met with DP World, and was aware that there might be a problem and asked them to keep him informed.  So it seems the government are involved in some way.  They are also now saying they will intervene.

Vanessa no one said it is OK, but you have to understand the business facts, not emotion so please learn the reality of this world. We live in a connected world and in business one has to understand how it all works, The UK is a small player on the world stage….fact.None of us know what GD understood just meeting DP World doesn’t mean they declared their hand. Please people you could be in GS position and completely innocent, we absolutely need to stop pointing the finger when we don’t have a clue of the facts, it’s nasty behaviour!

What we do know is that the government allowed the Dubai government controlled company to take control of UK ports and make £billions of profit out of us.

We also know that the useless Grayling changed the law regarding notification of mass redundancy for maritime staff. He changed it so the mandatory notification only needed to be made to the authorities where the ship is registered- Belize, Malta and other super clean places. No longer need the notification be made to the UK government even for UK companies. Truly, this government is the government of the people. Just not British people.

How precious Fiona Bruce can say with a straight face that QT nominates a balanced panel and audience is an insult to televised viewers inteligence.Last Thursday night's edition was a totally one sided tirade against the government, beleagued by a war started by Putin, by a world pandemic originated from China, a public angered by mass sackings endorsed by P & O managers, and so on.Poor Damien Hinds, Govenment Minister for our security and borders received a hammering from everybody- fuelled to a large degree by emotion- and somehow kept his dignity and pleasantness intact.

Exactly we all have our views and the BBC is clearly very biased, it was NOT  a debate it was an emotional tirade god help us if this is the level of voters ha! a debate should be factual and balanced with views/opinions based upon the interpretation of the facts. This is how Brexit happened emotions over facts, zero balance.

I have to confess I did watch it but as Denis said Damien Hinds handled himself with dignity which is more than can be said for the others. I am fortunate to do business in many territories so listen to what is happening elsewhere, plus read from informed sites. We live in a global world and very little we buy is actually owned by a British owned company, zero tech you use is owned by a British firm 😂😂😂 the latest attack on  Rishi’s & his wife is most unfair, so she has shares in her fathers Indian based company which he no longer owns. It isn’t his or Rishi’s wife decision to stop operating in Russia. India I believe is taking a neutral position, which is unfortunate and pray they will back Ukraine int he future,

I haven’t watched Question Time for years because I dislike the adversarial format that results in people hardening their pre-existing opinions rather than learning and changing.  I believe Nigel Farage was a guest on that programme 32 times making him first equal most frequent participant.  Biased?  I don’t know, but as a rule of thumb those of a leftish persuasion tend to see it as pro-right wing and vice versa.  I think the BBC’s concept of ‘balance’ can lead to some bizarre pairings.

If I want to go to sleep early on a Thursday I put QT on.  Works every time. Unlike Newsnight or the Paper Review (unless Alibi Brown is on).

Can I suggest reading the article in today's 'Sunday Times' by Matthew Syed. He makes the point he hasn't watched QT for a long time but did this week, and through 'an entirely different lens', after returning from the Poland-Ukraine border.'Normally I would have been rather dejected by the hostility and rancour. Instead I was marvelling at the system we call democracy. Strange though this may sound, I am not sure it has ever looked so alluring'. 'This is the miracle that Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are, perhaps more than anything else, intimidated by. All that anger, all that freedom to express it all, all that potential to spill over into violence, and yet democracies continue to bumble along'.
