It's the work of our old mate Lord (Brexit) Frost.See his statement in Hansard (Volume 814: debated on Thursday 16 September 2021)."We will unleash Britain’s potential as a world leader in the future of transport. My right honourable friend the Transport Secretary will shortly set out ambitious plans, which include modernising outdated EU vehicle standards and unlocking the full range of new transport technologies. We also intend to repeal the EU’s port services regulations—a very good example of a regulation which was geared heavily towards EU interests and never worked properly for the UK."Yes, this is a "Brexit Benefit". I.e. benefitting exactly those who Brexit was intended to benefit (apart from Putin - one of its main sponsors). Buncaneering employers - but certainly not benefiting ordinary working people. There will be far more of this to come. As we race to the bottom in employee / consumer / enviromental protection the UK will increasingly become the weakest link - i.e. a soft target for cost cutting. As many have already noted, P&O's French and Irish employees have not been treated the same way. So here, as in future, where cuts have to be made by pan European companies, it will be the UK employees who will suffer (with reduced / no employment protection rights). And as I pointed out before the Referendum, as more and more employees' rights are taken away, more and more people will turn to the Unions, rather than enjoy protection under the law. The reason is that the power of the unions has reduced over the last two or three decades is that workers needed less union protection, because they had more protection under EU laws - leading to overall better labour relations. Our work force will (and now will have to) become more militant to protect their rights, and we will soon be back to the bad old days of industrial strife and disfunctional labour relations. And yet - the Brexit apologists will soon be on here, with the usual justifications.
