Thanks for the suggestion. I actually just got a reply from Hillingdon adult education: they are too young. You have to be 19 on August 31st. So the situation is:a) their local schools won't take them until September, and even then will have too many applicants so may not take them at all (I had a long and depressing discussion with one of their local schools about this, who told me that there is a huge mismatch between demand and places in that borough). There is a possibility they will get preferential access under something called the Fair Access scheme, as refugees.b) their local college of FE runs ESOL, but couldn't take them until September. c) For schools and colleges, it may be a challenge to provide the necessary proof of address and council tax, given their flaky temporary residential situation. I don't know whether there's a way round that.d) they are too young for adult education e) I've found a Ukrainian woman who lives in Prague and teaches English who will try and give them English lessons over Whatsapp (in return for payment). Maybe that will help them.Probably anyone who has had any contact with refugees knows all about these challenges, but it's been a bit of an education for me. Several people have said to me: there must be a government system for this. But if there is, I haven't found it, and it hasn't found them. Wrt your question about visiting Chiswick: they only came here from Kyiv a few days ago. I presume it would be possible for them to come to Chiswick (since their mother comes here to work). Perhaps I should take some time off work and try and teach them English while she cleans my house. Steve
