Chiswick High Road Filter Lane

The cycle lane up to Chiswick Lane looks like it is almost completed.  It does look good.  My only question on it is the Chiswick Ln filter lane.  Previously it started at Homefield Rd, so was 70 or 80 meters long.  It looks like it will be about 20 meters now.  I don’t think that will make much difference to the congestion there.  One bus, or three or four cars going straight on but stopped at the lights would block the filter.  Am I missing something?

Kiran that's an interesting observation. I live nearby so have witnessed the recent problems fist hand. Roughly fifteen vehicles pass the lights on each phase. Of those the overwhelming majority turn left into Chiswick Lane so this filter really needs to work effectively. I agree the standard of finish is impressive and so it should for the multi millions this short stretch is costing us.Let's hope it is nearly finished but in my experience these sort of works get almost finished  then for some inexplicable reason work stops only to be completed weeks later.

The plan online (version 2 ) shows the 2 lanes start opposite Ennismore Ave, however traffic going straight on at that point, needs to move right into the lane going straight on, otherwise continuing on that single westbound lane will take them into that left hand filter. Is that going to cause problems? hmmm.

At least that will provide some distance for the traffic to divide.  I'm guessing that Chiswick High Road will have to be resurfaced.  It looks like a patch work quilt at the moment.  Shame the temporary cycle lane ever went in.  If people had seen this version first I think there would have been more acceptance.
