Gavin Williamson's Knighthood

Why has this useless **** got a Knighthood?The only thing I can think of is in these bleak times is to give the rest of the country a good laugh.

It’s very hard to understand.  The whole ‘partygate’ thing did serious damage to Johnson’s standing, even among his supporters, and now having made this appointment it’s as if he’s trying to show that he’s even more out of touch with public opinion than we imagined.  And bearing in mind that he got his PM job solely because he was seen as being popular (as his parliamentary majority then demonstrated) perhaps he has now become a bit fed up with the job and wants out?

Gavin knows where the skeletons are buried. And, given the timing, most likely connected to Boris’ links/associations/meetings with Russian agents and money, which we know a bit about but perhaps not all. The Conservative party have allowed themselves to get in so deep with the Russian money they are now worried this will reach the mainstream media. Gavin was defence secretary at a critical point (when the FBI were investigating London links with Russia and people who were “agents of the Russian state”, which includes Aaron Banks to link it with another thread on here). So Gavin probably knows things about Boris that Boris doesn’t want the rest of us to know.

I see no reason why the recipient should be the only one offended. That, too, perpetuates the pattern.

It shows the extent of no matter how bad you are in public office, you will still get a reward. Most governments indulge in this nonsense but this particular one is lowering standards to a laughable degree.Lebedev, Russian, given a peerage because of his donations to the Conservatives. Has never  voted in any HoL debate. Because he has never attended.
