What am I supposed to do?

4.00pm today.Bus journey on 190 from Rivercourt Road to Hogarth Roundabout...... 50 minutes.I reckon that's about 1 mph and before you say I should have walked I am disabled!God save us from those who want to save the planet by sacrificing Chiswick.

John, I empathise. Unfortunately neither TfL or LB Hounslow care about people like you or myself and 1,000's of others with mobility problems. They seem to believe  that because of our mobility problems we can spend hours getting from A to B without thinking we may need to get to appointments on time 🙈

There is nothing you can do- just think of the obnoxious stuff spewing out on the roads where the traffic is now at a standstill for so much time- a complete lack of thinking...

One thing to try is to encourage those others who don't have to use their personal vehicles to get from A to B to find other ways of doing it. How many of those people caught up in that congestion absolutely had no other option e.g. travelling at a less busy time, using the bus like you, walking, cycling etc.?Of course some people needed to be in their cars, some people have no other viable options, but that isn't true for everyone.

The more modern vehicles have automatic stop start engines.  So there aren't as many on the road and idling while stopped can get you a fine.  Aren't a lot of heavier vehicles already now restricted in the times they can travel?  We all need to be looking at alternative ways of travelling and working so we don't spend as much time on the road.  A lot of hospital apptmts seem to be in community hospitals now where equipment exists so that travel for patients is reduced.  Of course NHS clinics were quite used to having to adjust apptmts because of the difficulties hospital transport had.  Reducing unnecessary journeys and sharing rides was something we did before when there was a fuel strike.

People are going to use their cars if it is going to take nearly 1.5 hours to go from Chiswick to Hammersmith and back by bus.TFL need to think about express buses along roads like the A4.The 533 was a good example of how quick yo could get to Hammersmith from the Hogarth roundabout.  Lets hope it will return.

The traffic has got a whole lot worse because of LTN’s some are great and well thought through many are NOT! A316 is the only road many local people can use to go about their business. TFL and Hounslow Council need to listen to local people and reverse the GP LTN, utter madness.

I think you will find LBH and TFL listen to a few local people, mainly cyclists who have helped form their agenda,but not our democratically elected local councillors nor the majority of the people who pay their salaries. And as for the people left behind by all this, you just have to read the callous posts made by a few of our neighbours - they make it clear what their view is on the less able amongst us. And we thought we lived in a civilised society...

Exactly! I’m pretty sure Michael Robinson of Hounslow Cycling is a driving force. These guys are definitely being heard. Hounslow Council has several members of this cycling group in their numbers, it  is surely a conflict of interest. I read heartbreaking stories from all over London on how LTNs are really having devastating affects. What we’re suffering in Chiswick is nothing in comparison. These Councils are heartless
