I watch this occasionally.The current situation is being reported as that Donbass and the other ,in their words, 'self-proclaimed' independent areas of eastern Ukraine are in imminent danger of attack from Ukraine.23 journalists in Russia have been assainated. The only credible opposition leader is in prison.All demonstrations are attacked by baton wielding police.The Russian Olympics team is corrupt re doping.Is it right that this station is on air in this country?I believe in free speech but I'm having second thoughts because of the blatant propaganda that this station broadcasts.

I watch RT most days and often things are reported there about this country and then a couple of days later they are on the BBC. I also listen to the BBC world service and again this seems different news to the BBC TV.

To Ben's initial posting, Putin is a prize dictator and the stamping on all internal opposition is nothing new since he came to power. The sad history of the Ukraine under USSR rule (the Great Famine in the 1930s commemorated locally outside the Ukrainian Cathedral in Newton Avenue W3 and the forced repatriation to USSR of captured Ukrainians by UK and USA after WW2 for execution or sending to Gulags) is sadly little understood by the British media from all the news I have recently seen.

It is complex isn't Joe.Many western Ukrainians saw the Nazis as liberators after the forced collectivisation of farms and the resulting famine of 1921 in which just under 4 million died.Many partisans fought the Nazis and the Nazis.The forced expulsion of the Tartars is another factor.I can understand Putin not wanting Ukraine to be part of Nato aka missiles in Cuba but this is all a distraction frominternal issues ie a fall in population ,a collapsing economy and suppression of dissent.I'm glad we're not dependent on Russian gas unlike Germany and others.Putin would've had a stronger hand if this winter was bitterly cold and this had come to a head earlier.I wonder what his generals think about how this will pan out.They must know they can't win.

oops..'the Nazis and the Soviet army'.I agree ,Churchill shouldn't have handed any of them back.I read an acount of what happened when they were.They were led away then when out of sight but within earshot they were and executed.I think Putin ,like Hitler and Stalin ,regards his own population ,let alone other countries', as expendable.What happened in Grozny was pretty horrific as well.

The plan is to drive migrants West, similarly to how they did with Middle Eastern migrants, having orchestrated the required situations there, to break the Western middle classes as required under the NWO. The Covid response has gone a long way to further aid this plan, and the Ukraine saga is to help finish off. The sanctions the West refers to will have no effect on Putin, but further damage the Western middle classes, and that is their purpose. Another step forward for the NWO goal - one bland, poor, cultureless enslaved race under global control.

I was slightly surprised when watching RT earlier today before it got pulled off Satellite and subsequently off DTT, RT was referring to the conflict in Ukraine as the Ukraine War (rather than the euphemistic Special Military Operation).

RT was still there on DTT for hour after it was no longer available in either SD or HD for home reception off the Astra constellation of Satellites.Without knowing how RT is/was distributed from source, not sure you can categorically say it was the EU that pulled the plug on what was being transmitted on Freeview. RT is still viewable on the web, and there is no reason why the signal that was going out on DTT went via satellite. It's possible it did, but it's possible (and more likely IMO given that RT originates in London) that it was being fed directly to those running the DTT transmission platform without going via satellite.There is an article https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2022/03/02/russia-today-thrown-off-satellite-and-dtt-in-the-uk/which suggests it was the EU that forced it off DTT, however this article may not be entirely correct. I'm no brexiteer, but I think it's entirely likely that the decision to take RT off DTT was made in this country and not the EU.

Services on Astra received domestically in the UK are up linked by SES in Luxembourg.If the E.U. made the decision to stop RT then yes, they would have pulled RT off Astra, not OFCOM.If, as is likely, the DTT service is fed directly to the transmission DTT platform and not via Satellite, the decision to take RT off DTT would have ultimately been one that wasn’t made by the E.U.
