Question time tomorrow

Interesting to find out how Boris will handle this new party with 100 people- he didn’t turn up today in parliament- I found this showing what a coward he is.  I wonder what he will say tomorrow- Not the greatest of behaviour by a prime minister .

While BJ has been hiding in the cupboard today the footsoldiers have been sent out to take the flak  which is pretty much normal these days. The result has been the equivalent of old lags under police questioning. Caught bang to rights they have been told to respond as most criminals do: "No comment". It will indeed be interesting to see the PM in the dock tomorrow, though as ever the chance of him ever answering a straight question with a straight answer are zero.

He will refuse to answer any questions, despite accounts of family members dying on the 20th May 2020, and just respond with "It's right to let the investigation of senior civil servant Sue Gray reach it's conclusion"

I agree. Ms Rayner is starting to grow on me and she seems to get under BJ's skin in a way that squeaky-clean Starmer never can.

Somebody on the radio said they expected Sue Gray to say she has found evidence of possible criminal behaviour therefore she has no choice but to hand everything over to the Met.That's her off the case.What the Met will do is anybody's guess.Dawn raids and BoJo led out in handcuffs or insufficient evidence to proceed?

Don't expect anything from the Met under the leadership of the disgraceful Cressida Dick, who's been involved in so many cock-ups or dodgy decisions (think Jean Charles de Menezes, the breaking up of the women's vigil for Sarah Everard on Clapham Common and the withholding of documents from the Daniel Morgan inquiry panel). She's more interested in protecting the Met's reputation than in addressing problems, and she knows which side her bread's buttered.

Pity Johnson tomorrow at PMQ, possibly facing the wrath of spitting, snarling Angela Raynor?Not really, too many self inflicted misjudgments I'm afraid.Enough is enough, he's done his bit getting Brexit over the line and time now for a strong incumbent to take over the reigns: fix the N.Ireland protocol, stop the wretched channel crossings, curtail covid, control gas prices, and if he or she does stray- don't get caught.Good luck with all that.

Why do we need an enquiry?Two simple questions:1. Was there a party?2. Were you there?Johnson knows (as in fact do we all).Simple enough for him to say "yes" or "no".  "Let's wait and see" is not an appropriate response. He is taking us for fools.

Did any of the 100 party goers at No. 10 die from Covid?  Who was in No. 11 at the time?  Was it still baldygit or was it Sunak?  Was he at the party too?  Were any other cabinet ministers at the party or was it only the overpaid, underworked staff?

If Keir Starmer decides to turn up at PMQs tomorrow will we believe him, anymore than we believe Boris, that Keir's latest Covid test was negative only that he was itching to gainsay his deputy's growing populism lest he Sir Keir leader of the Dreary Party is too oft eclipsed by the member for Ashton-under-Lyne sitting in for Starmer? ~ And, all the while [while] he finds time seemingly to allow the risky catching of Covid no doubt due to his injudicious hobnobbings among Omicron and other Covid variant gatherings and crowds. Having had Covid so much to isolate himself (what is it nine times?) may we know of Keir Starmer as an horrendous Covid super spreader ? Thank you

It should be fireworks, (even with Kier on duty). Airing out this scandal and possibly even making Boris go is why a ‘dirty democracy’ is always better than a benign dictatorship. No matter how appealing it might be to farm out decisions to technocrats.

Sorry to be a party pooper ~ but, in order to attend The House having isolated yet again so that he can enthusiastically face Boris Johnson at PMQs in the great showdown enthralling us right now as we write, do we know if Keir Starmer's Covid test was truly positive or negative ~ and if negative that the test can be relied on to have supplied a correct result given the unreliability of self-testing assuming Starmer self-tested?

Nice deflection attempt. But it won't work.Johnson has spent three weeks (a) denying that any parties took place: (b) then saying he had "been assured" that no rules were broken;  (c) claiming to be outraged when the Allegra Stratton video came out (her laughing at the Prime Minister having broken the rules): (d) saying "we will have to wait for the enquiry": and only now "well yes, I was there: sorry [that I have been caught], but I didn't realise it was a party".Interesting use of the passive voice (e.g. "errors that may have been made") rather than accepting responsibility ("for the mistakes that I made").If he survives this UK democracy is dead.

I presume Keir Starmer was following government guidance and complying with the law that allows vaccinated people to not have to isolate for the full 10 days after testing positive for the SARS-Cov-2 virus.Don't think there will be any need for an investigation or report into his attendance in the house of commons today.

No doubt Boris will be exonerated by the enquiry. His type will continue to get away with everything. They always do. Look at Blair!  And he will make millions a year on after dinner speeches when he eventually decides, of his own volition, to go.  Theresa May has certainly done alright with her after dinner speeches. And she didn’t even have to physically attend most of them. All done virtually!!  How many millions has she declared now?

He will no doubt have his Tory audiences in fits of laughter when he relates his stories of how easy it was to bully his cabinet into supporting him and how easy it was to con the British people for so long!  Even today he was openly contemptuous of the questions being put to him despite his attempts to be contrite.  Contrition isn’t within his DNA.

Wonder how many on here railing now against Boris voted for the bleeder and his torrid Tories as well previously for the clown to be London mayor when all about the nature of the aberrant Boris de Pfeffel Johnson was well established? Long-term Tory success is pretty much about well rehearsed orchestrations against Ken LIvingstone and Jeremy Corbyn being both peaceable gentlemen if far too creative with their ethical politics.

This goes far deeper than just the mendacity and incompetence of the Prime Minister (and by extension all of his cabinet member enablers).Although that in itself is bad enough - it leads to bad, politically expedient decisions (if any decisions at all), and bad execution.  And corruption (the fact that the government's "VIP Lane" for PPE was held by the Court to be unlawful yesterday has generally been lost in the fog - so judicial confirmation that corruption lies at the heart of this government).The wider problem is that our political leadership sets the tone and culture for the country as a whole.  As the Russians say "A fish rots from its head".There has been a noticeable decline in business ethics in the UK in the last few years. It's no longer a question "is this right" - but rather "can we get away with this".  This is bad for business, bad for society, and bad for Britain - and Britain's reputation internationally as a reliable business partner.Business depends to a great extent on trust and confidence. That culture of trust and confidence is being destroyed by Johnson and this government's leadership.That is why he must go.

Helen wasn't referring to anyone on this forum. It's stretching the meaning of the word to call her abusive, unless of course you're such a dyed-in-the-wool Tory supporter that you find any criticism of your inglorious leader personally offensive. To my mind she was too kind. Johnson doesn't lack intelligence, but rather humanity, responsibility, moral fibre, honesty and courage.
