Where i live, there are MANY plants that kill animals. In fact people sometimes kill neighbours dogs they dont like, by feeding them meat with a few leaves from several plants. However i live 12N, 61W, not quite the same. The plants are often so toxic because gardening is actually a form of chemical warfare, naturally sometimes. There are trees that will burn you on contact, trees with 3 inch spikes, trees that while they grow lovely fruit [that you buy in tesco] the wood if burned will release very toxic chemicals, and insects that will kill.Still, so long as we can buy 50% industrial strength glyphosate, neonicotinoids, 245T+24T - what is actuallly agent orange, your current supplies of bananas, mangoes, cocoa and many spices will remain secure.
