Acton Green Common

Does anyone know what the story is on the northern section of green space closest to the Duke of Sussex pub?  Various random flowerbeds, bordered by tree trunks, have appeared…. and piles of logs too.  I don’t have a view either way, which I know is unfashionable these days, but I just wondered if anyone had further information about them and whether they’re part of a bigger plan?

I think it's the final piece in the jigsaw to make sure there is no space for kids to have a game of football/cricket/frisby. They created the meadow around that stupid flag pole, the mounds at the side of the kids extended play area, and 30 metres left uncut around every tree. Great for the dogs to shit though

If you call it a 'wild meadow' you can save money by not having to mow it! Fewer places for children to run about or throw or kick a ball or for families to sit on the grass.  I'd say about half the surface area of Acton Green/Common is now rendered inaccessible. Victorian urban parks aren't meant to reproduce open countryside.

Stephen/Pater, I can only assume that you have not read Alison’s story? i suggest you do before placing any more insensitive, stupid, ignorant comments on this forum. The wild wood is a fantastic addition for the community, wildlife and Alison’s family, thank you.

Oh dear. Apologies to anyone involved. I missed that item. Lovely idea and gesture, obviously not a Council conspiracy. Cant pretend I like the positioning though, for the reason I gave.

It is very sad indeed that Alison was ill and died.  But sad as it may be that does not entitle one individual to make some bequest and have their personal wishes carried out on land which we all have supported with our council taxes and hopefully have the right to enjoy and make use of in the best ways possible.Not so sure at all that what is currently being done is improving things, rather to the contrary.  How has it happened and been agreed?

“After much hunting for the right site, she contacted Abundance London and we were able to liaise with Ealing Council to find a wonderful place for her and work together on the kind of woodland we would plant. Before her death we were able to share the planting plans and this week the first trees and plants went in.
