Pubs closing  early for Xmas/Covid

Noticed that the Crown and Anchor was closed about 4.30 today. Walked on to the Old Pack Horse, they are closed until the 26th. Is this general in Chiswick?

I've  walked past The Lamb twice today and whilst they're open, couldn't see any customers save 3 in their Beer Garden. I guess it's not financially viable with all the OH's to stay open. However, Rishi Sunak has announced a substantial package for qualifying hospitality businesses

“Substantial”?  If you think £6000 is going to help then I suggest you walk into any hospitality venue and ask what how long they will keep afloat with that.

What Phil said. He's right.As to the closures, please folks don't jump to conclusions. I heard this last night and thought to myself maybe it would be more prudent to close and wait for grant money or that the grant money would exceed the takings given cancellations and operating costs. In the case of the Roebuck, they have posted holiday hours which are, admittedly, more erratic than what you'd expect. But I see it as them assessing the situation and giving it their level-headed best to meet the needs of customers and staff and stay afloat while doing so.

I checked in at the Queen's Head, Sutton Lane today. Open 23rd, closed on Christmas Eve, Reopens New Year's Eve.

A number of us must be saving money by not eating out or going to the pub.  Will promise to try and spend my share as soon as it seems safe and secure to do so - please keep going until then.
