Bias in Councils decision

“A SENIOR Oxfordshire councillor will no longer decide whether more Low Traffic Neighbours will be installed throughout the city.”Apparently there is doubt about a Councillors impartiality. Rings bells doesn’t it ?

Surely you don't mean 2 LB Hounslow Councillors who are members of LCC/HCC  ?

I’m sure there are many, all over the place 😂Why else would these unworkable, unpopular schemes be in place. There are various marches,  and protests going on. Endless consultations  with huge majorities against the LTNs and cycle lanes, openly being ignored.  One councillor commented that the consultations are not a referendum, so why are they wasting our money on them. There’s something very unacceptable going on .  Worst of all is the pollution and Emergency Services being delayed. Cycle campaigners are showing more and more clearly they have no interest in anything but cycling. Hypocritical and selfish.

And I suppose you are those members of society who like to blame everyone else for their indulgences. I believe that world population growth is on the decline.After continuously growing in the UK life expectancy had been levelling off and dropping before Covid.Hans Rosling's Ted Talks are worth listening to:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FACK2knC08E&list=RDCMUCMbmqUMqzerMSM48pGYMYsg&index=1It is longevity of life that is causing the greatest increase in population.Having said that removing Overseas Aid to countries where women will no longer be able to study and will be married off when young and will be denied further education is unlikely to help. There are shortages of health workers the world over.

It is interesting to hear her talk on this in a 7 min interview of how she wrestles and reconciles her beliefs.  Women are known to walk 15 km in searing heat to get an injection.  The Victorians had very large families because so many of their children died.  When you investigate your family tree you will often find that even when the families are larger than most are now in this country there are often more that you have never heard about because they died as babies.  Advancements in medicine and healthcare and sanitation have reduced the number of deaths of babies and children here.Perhaps one day we will also allow those people who no longer want to live but to die to do so here rather than having to travel to Switzerland.  So often by the time the point comes when life has become intolerable it is too difficult to travel.

“Have you ever been to Oxford?” Well yes, and I know East Oxford particularly well.  The proposed LTN there, much like those here, will have hugely asymmetrical benefits depending on where you live.  The East Oxford traffic will be re-routed along the poorest roads in the area where those in most deprivation live.  The South Circular and poor little Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah springs to mind.

There is a massive backlash against LTNs by people who are being badly affected . Totally ignored by many Councils, who are surely supposed to work in our best interests.Or so I always thought .
