The internet has effectively destroyed small retailerson the altar of price comparison sites and ecommerce, the music business, print journalism, and much else besidesSocial media meanwhile while conferring some limitedbenefits have also enabled truly stupid people to share their stupid ideas with other stupid people -something which has never been possible before -so that they're now demanding that their voice be heard. While there will always be opportunists waitingin the wings with the necessary resources to give a voice to, and exploit stupid people.  Trump is currently funding his own startup social media site I believe All Zuckerberg ever wanted to do was build up a user base, using irresistable features, FOMO fear of missing out, a facility for making Friends, and a LIKE buttonwhich he could then sell on to advertisers. Which despite his best efforts, got a bit out of hand.Is there any walking back from any of this, the death of small retail, of music, of journalism, the rise of ant-social media ? More especially given the international nature of the Internet. AFAIAA nobodyhas yet to produce any reassuring answers to any of this.Off topic the Amazon/Visa showdown looks interesting.People are always saying they're going to ditchAmazon on ethical grounds but never seem to get round to it. Whether Visa non acceptance in the UK will finally push them over the edge and force Amazon to back down is a good question IMOOr to answer your question" how do informed people counter the likes of QAnon?"Short answer you can't. Stupid people make better clickbait and are easier to sell rubbish to.michael adams
