Stray Cat Found Grove Park - Short Hair Tortoishell

This cat has been living in Florence Gardens as a stray.  Young, underweight and covered in ticks.  We've taken her to the vet and she has no microchip.  They dealt with the ticks and think she's been living rough for some time. She's timid but affectionate when you get to know her.  They can't take her on but gave me a list of animal charities which I will ring round but I 'm not optimistic due to the large number of abandoned pets currently.  She must have been someone's pet as she's so affectionate.

Keep her and try to re home if you can’t keep her longer term, poor thing she sounds adorable.

If you can keep her on a temporary basis, the Mayhew should be able to advertise her on their very popular website, check prospective homes etc if their cat holding area and cat fosterers are full which they may be.  You would need to commit to allowing prosepective owners to visit with a view to taking her on.  So glad to hear compulsory microchipping of cats is now being brought in imminently. Thank you so much for your efforts with this kittie.

What is not clear is just who on earth is going to enforce the microchipping? You can bring in laws until the cows come home - but if they are unenforceable what's the point?

Good idea because any cat that is found/lost, when taken to a vet can be reunited with owner, or if not chipped, re-homed without faffing around looking for an owner who couldnt be arsed to get their cat chipped.
