Rupa Huq

Is my MP and I agree with her on many things but she sometimes has really serious lapses of judgment such as applauding the Fisher's Lane closure - thanks, Rupa, no woman I know would walk home there after 4 pm now - and teaming up with the sleazeball 'kinder' Matt Hancock.  He was very kind indeed to pub landlords and his mates when doling out coronavirus money to produce protection which dismally failed, leaving taxpayers in hoc to millions,  but not very kind to his wife when he snogged his mistress behind her back. Sorry, Rupa, you aren't as awful as Ruth Cadbury who prefers to spend her supporting those overseas rather than her own constituents, but these serious lapses mean I could never vote for you.

I don't think the Conservatives are likely to win in Rupa's seat: she has built her majority from very fragile to extremely strong.Partly the London swing no doubt, but also by being an assiduous and hard-working MP....whether or not one agrees with everything she says, she certainly puts the hours in.

She is not up for re-election in May. Those are council elections. Whichever party the councillors in her constituency are, she will remain the MP.

Without commenting on Fishers Lane, I love having Rupa Huq as my MP. Whilst others were on furlough, I was excluded from any government support, along with millions of other taxpayers. Rupa Huq supported us and spoke for us in the House. I have written to her several times and received detailed and personal replies. She is one of the good ones

Tim, I think I was in a bad place when I posted originally. Rupa called me once and we had a good conversations, it was about Perceval House,  amongst other things. I raised one of my pet hates which is Julian Bell’s  Social Housing tenancy and she wasn’t interested.  It’s rather stayed with me. I’ll try not to post stupid comments about politics in future. Leaving myself wide open there I know.

I think Rupa Huq is a good local MP. The idea of being kinder in politics is probably a good thing although it is hard to see how Matt Hancock can be any sort of leading light. I’d have preferred a campaign for honesty in politics but that’s obviously a non-starter.In terms of Fisher’s Lane, RH might have been persuaded by the views of Belmont school - they were clear that the closure of F Lane to cars was a safer option for local children.

The problem is they're all so cosy with each other aren't they? Both parties are quite happy with this back and forth pantomime but it's all a closed shop!It's rotten to the core.
