The courage of "Chiswickian" Lord Frank Field.
Many will have seen reports in the National Press about the plight of Frank Field who has announced that he has a terminal illness and is actively promoting the Assisted Dying Bill.Although he was a distinguished MP for Birkenhead for some 40 years..he had many Chiswick connections. He attended Hogarth School (see picture on Flickr), his mother worked at Belmont School,he once lived in a flat above Fosters Bookshop and once in Dukes Avenue.Frank was also a Labour Party member in Chiswick..apparently a Councillor for "Turnham Green"He also set up the Low Pay unit with the Hon. David Layton (my old boss).. and his recent admission to a local Hospice has a Chiswick connection too. Tracy Bleakley the CEO of the charity Hospice UK once lived in W4 and Tracy also once stood as a prospective Councillor in Brentford at a local election.I like linking connections.. and the national news about Baron Frank Field rang a bell.
