I see a lot of roads are being blocked by drivers again today, parking their cars with their engines running to queue for fuel. Hopefully the police will be along to arrest them and drag them off the road and out of the way of essential workers, emergency services and the elderly and disabled who are car dependent. Lock 'em up.

Queues of stationary cars wanting petrol - with their engines running - blocking the roads for everyone else including emergency vehicles and buses. You couldn't make it up!  I wonder how many have auto stop/start and don't know how to switch it on?

Paul — I do hope you are winding us up! There's a difference between not being able to go about your work because an idiot is sitting in the road versus not being able to go about your work because you can't get petrol. I wouldn't mind so much but the geezer in charge of the 'Insulate Britain' mob hasn't even insulated his own house! I agree with Insulate Britain's ideologies but NOT in the way they are making themselves heard.

99% of my time on this forum is anthropological observation of a carefully curated group of Chiswick solipsists and their conceited self-serving opinions which are best revealed by poking with a stick now and again. Like the patently ludicrous premise that everybody blocking buses and emergency services in their cars is doing so out of necessity to be able to work and put food on the table when the news and media is full of reports and confessional testimonies that show that many are just caught up in a kind of herd mania to maintain a full tank of fuel sat outside their house. Just like how people were not eating 5kg of pasta a day and constantly wiping their backsides in the first lockdown so didn't really need sheds or garages or spare rooms full of toilet rolls. Panic-buying is the result of fear and idiocy not rationality or necessity. Hence its name. As I said lock 'em up for the same offence of blocking the public highway.

Actually insulating a lot of our homes can be a lot more complicated than many on here seem to think.  Of course if you are in the position to just throw wads of money at anyone who offers... and have somewhere to live while it happens... but just look at the mess that has been created by Govts' deregulating this, that and the other and the quality of a lot of the workmanship, materials, supervision and management that has resulted. There are over 600 tall buildings still needing their cladding changed following Grenfell. And that is just those buildings.The tower blocks in Croydon in the recent ITV programme have to be seen to be believed with the problems that occur with a lack of swift maintenance.  It is unlikely to ever be a one size fits all solution with buildings.
