Grove Park Traffic Restrictions

Can anyone please tell me where I can find out about the latest traffic restrictions in Grove park?  I can't find anything on Hounslow website.  Many thanks

The link that Leslie posted describes the current restrictions, but changes are to be introduced shortly that affect Burlington Lane (no entry from A316) and Staveley Road (extended times for School Street restriction). There are cycle lanes in both directions. It should only take a couple of minutes.

Same logic. Not everyone drives... Children, people without licenses, people who can't afford cars, and of course those who don't want to.

Cycling will never replace the car time has prove that, need other means of transport for those people who have been totally ignored, we can still havecycle lanes as before.

Electric cycles and all the different types of cycle now available have brought the cycle back into the forefront of travel again.

I think if you live in GP then you're free to come and go as you please along Stavely Road past the school.  The blurb says "Buses and permit holders within the ‘Grove Park’ and ‘Fauconberg’ Controlled Parking Zone areas, and Staveley Road allotment holders will be exempt."

Unless you are a resident grove park is a no go area that’s a real shame for many local residents, Chiswick house, pubs, restaurants. I am guessing GP residents are happy to live in a residential area where no one else has access by car. Crazy scheme but that’s Hounslow council for you!

I think there’s something wrong when some don’t  knows or understands the restrictions in an area they live near to. To have to warn  friends and visitors, trying to remember what are no go areas, which keep changing, generally is alien to me. Old fashioned one way streets or no entry seemed good enough before the cycle lobby got involved

I'm afraid you've got that wrong. Residents of Grove Park are also affected by these restrictions.  We too are only allowed to drive down certain roads depending on where we live. Friends have to take ever-more circuitous routes to get here, delivery drivers are bemused and many cab drivers will no longer risk taking jobs in the area. Supposedly this is to target out-of-area traffic cutting through Grove Park but  like a 12 bore shotgun it actually ends up hitting everything in sight. It's a price worth paying according to the officials who came uo with this ill-conceived and poorly-implemented nonsense.

Sincere apologies Bruce. I’d just read something that put my back up, Referring to people who don’t live in the GP and Strand in the Green as rat runners. Thanks for not jumping at me harshly, and reminding me of the dire situation you find yourself in. Who exactly is in favour of these measures?

Bruce I feel for you, GP is a fabulous space that many locals throughout Chiswick enjoyed sadly I think the pubs, restaurants, businesses will not survive as many of us just won’t go there for fear of getting the restrictions wrong and ending up with a fine. Chiswick is changing beyond belief but I guess that was Hounslow plan all along such a shame.

I've lived in Grove Park for less than three years having spent most of the last four decades north of the A4 in Stamford Brook.  We took some convincing about coming here but I have to say we didn't regret it - until now. We now feel isolated from old friends and haunts. At 70 I really don't want to be cycling in the dark or walking further than I feel up to because somebody has decided they know best. I am anything but car-dependent . Mostly I use public transport, walk and even cycle, but this is my choice.In all the years I lived under Hammersmith and Fulham both under Labour and Conservative administrations I never encountered anything like the arrogance and sheer bloody-mindedness of Hounslow under this leadership.

Aim is to block us off so that 2 local Militant Cycle Lobbyists can have Grove Park as a private ideological playground. One even shouted ‘Hurrah’ when they blocked off Hartington Road. The other spouts dubious data to justify his opinions. Utter disgrace.

This has led me to wonder about the genesis of the "South Chiswick" masterplan. I was certainly unaware of the prospect when I moved here and since then I can honestly say that nobody I have met has been anything but bemused by it, while that bemusement has now turned to anger. If the residents didn't ask for it and their elected representatives don't support it, then where on earth has it come from? We know who makes all the noise, but to actually have a council so supine that it allows this abuse of power is truly extraordinary.

We read all the time that groups like LCC are telling Councils what to do. Why they listen is indeed a mystery. I think we should start by blocking members of cycling groups from holding Council office, there is clearly a conflict of interest and I’m thinking must answer the question to a great extent. Cyclists are not a problem cycle zealots are another matter.

The Grove Park Group and Strand on the Green Association have put together a joint counter proposal with the aim of simplifying things, and making it possible for genuine visitors to GP not to be fined.  The proposal is to put ANPR on all entrances / exits and only apply a fine to drivers entering one point, and exiting another with a set time period.  This would have the effect of cutting out all rat runners (of which I'm very much in favour as they once blighted the area) but allowing everyone else to come and go to visit / use local services.The council are resisting this for no good reason.  So there's a protest on Thursday night at 6pm outside the council building in Hounslow.  Come along if interested...

Which proposal will raise the most money from Chiswick for the council to spend in Hounslow and Feltham?  That's the one they are going for.

best thing to do is just drive around and see where you get a ticket - it seems pretty random
