Did you lose money on Chiswick High Road

Did you lose some money on Chiswick Road? If you did and can ideally show a bank machine receipt, or explain the amount and denominations along with the approximate time - then ask in the “Bookcase “ shop 272 - where I turned it in along with another kind lady (also concerned).Failing this, the bookshop has kindly said they will put it in their charity box.

Shouldn't you hand the found money to the police who may already have had a distraught pensioner, gambling winner or child out shopping buying a grandparent a birthday present after emptying their piggybank has then reported the loss? Do we have to consider, if when 'finders keepers' doesn't unethically kick in as it really shouldn't, think about rights of 'finders' then deciding where the valued find goes next if not into the care and trust of some random high street shop. In any case, what charity is more deserving than another ~ who decides?

Police dont take money and other lost items anymore You can fill a online form as found but it is down to you to try and find the rightfull owner as well as other found items. Mind you, what if you find a 50k diamond ring or even 50k cash ?

When I was about 9 I found a ten-shilling note in the street and took it to the police station. Amazingly, nobody claimed it, and three months later I was able to get it back. My mother made me give five shillings to the mate who was with me at the time.

I think that the police do now accept some lost property. (I suspect that there was a bit of an outcry when they stopped).  However you would have to find a police station where you can hand whatever the found item/s are in - and so many police stations have closed.
