CINEMA reviews

A perfect day to see a film?!Since CC opened roughly six weeks ago, I am interested in your feedback on this new venue now they've bedded in their approach.  I think there's been some talk about the membership packs on this site, but were the members given a special tour of the new building and the benefits of the yearly support?

Having been a couple of time, impressions are overall positive. Seats are comfortable and screens are a decent size. A few teething problems, but nothing major.Overall I probably slightly prefer Olympic in Barnes for their amazing sound system, but being able to walk and enjoy a meal at d grande before or after the film make this a winner for me.Not tried the restaurant yet, but would like a wider choice on the menu before we do

Mrs B and I went for the first time the other afternoon and liked it a lot, though we didn’t buy any food or drink on this occasion.  As long as the afternoon prices and the range and quality of films remains competitive with the Silver Screen deal offered by the Gate in Notting Hill we are sure to become regulars.  The seats are really comfortable and the ledges for beverages are a sensible accessory.  We were pleased that it (Screen 3) was quite full, though not to the extent that it might pose a Covid risk.

Are they doing Silver Screen, Alastair?

Not as such - that’s a Picturehouse thing - but the afternoon prices I paid seemed quite reasonable all things considered.

… and no free biscuits and coffee either, though let’s be honest, Picturehouse coffee is vile!

We enjoyed our first visit and felt some of the criticism the place has received was unduly harsh. It is not a well-oiled machine and staff are still in the process of learning on the job but all leisure sector businesses are having huge problems with staff and recruitment at the moment. It is perhaps not plush enough to qualify as a treat as a visit to the Olympic or Electric might be and the ticket prices are perhaps a discouragement to people who like to go to the cinema on a regular basis but perhaps they will come up with more offers when customers stop being concerned about Covid and aren't put off by a full auditorium.

It's not uncommon for me to see 2 or 3 films a week and I was unimpressed at the new place expecting me to pay £16 PLUS a service charge.
