Garden Waste Suspension

Why is it considered acceptable for Hounslow Council to email us at 9.01am on the day our garden waste is due for collection to tell us that, despite our being required to leave it at the front of our property on the day of collection by 7am, they have suspended the service for 6 weeks but they did in fact suspend it two days ago just didn't feel the need to tell us? Answers on a postcard...

Is this specific to a particular area or does it apply everywhere? I haven’t received such an email and the Hounslow website has nothing about it. We pay for this service so if it is suspended we should get a refund.

Must be a local issue. Garden waste has just been collected.

Cllr Todd raised this with me and confirmed later that the collection had been made.Hounslow has continued to provide a full waste service throughout the pandemic unlike many councils. It does seem likely that this was a spam email and I'd be delighted to hear from Maria guy.lambert@hounslow.gov.uk especially if she can identify the source of the email.The Recycle360 crews have defied the dangers of the pandemic (hard to space in a waste lorry cab and to avoid contact with potentially infected bins) and dealt with a large increase in domestic waste whilst people have been staying at home.There are real issues recruiting drivers at present but our crews are very loyal because our residents, the council and Lampton360 treat them with the respect they deserve, and pay them the London Living Wage as a minimum.
