Rogue phone calls to landline

Has anyone else experienced this in the last three days?  Suddenly I have started to receive calls (scams) on the landline - the phone tells me it is a UK mobile number but it also tells me it is an international call. I had six on Thursday and ten yesterday. I have just received my sixth this morning. I ignore any calls from numbers not in my phone’s directory as I reckon anyone who actually wants me will leave me a message and I will call them back. I’ve had scam calls before but not at this level. Any ideas why this is happening and how to stop it???

I had something similar a while back.  Not nearly as intense.  BT were incredibly helpful.  I would give them a call.

If you have the numbers of the calls you can report them to who-calls.me.uk.  someone gave us this address address on herefew days ago.

You should report it soon to whoever provides your phone service with a record of date and time the scam calls occurred.  They can raise to Ofcom who provide a “block” list to all U.K. service providers.The calls are from outside the U.K. but there are ways of “spoofing” information so it looks like they are from the U.K.  This can be blocked but there is an ongoing battle between the scammers and the phone service providers and regulator.

I do find that they come in clusters: nothing for weeks then a dozen in a few days, then another respite.

Possibly because the scammers get blocked, then they find away around it, then get blocked again….

I find that picking up the phone and remaining silent tends to get them to ring off.

Thank you for all your replies. I think there is no reason to report the numbers to who-calls-me or BT as I reckon they are all ‘spoofed’. I was very interested in Susan’s answer as I didn’t get any calls yesterday afternoon and none today (so far!).

I don't block them, unless one number is very persistent, just don't answer them, so it's not that.
