Fishers Lane

I see that thick drivers are ignoring the restrictions and getting stuck in the inevitable flood.

If you are referring to the picture on the front page I don't think those cars are stuck. Would you not be willing to concede that given the appalling rain visibility might be restricted at the moment. Anyone local knows if you drive through you get a fine but someone unfamiliar with the area is probably too concerned about negotiating the flood to see the signs which aren't that noticeable even on a sunny day.

No, don't know and don't care. Fine them.

Just driven passed and that underpass is well under water. An hour from the M4 to Turnham Green Terrace.Parts of the M4 towards the flyover down to 1 lane on the right due to severe flooding.Police car across Bollo Lane at Chiswick Park Tube - underwater with 3 cars drowned to their bonnets.E3 bus ahead of us turned off the High Road into Sutton Court Road north, right at Chiswick Park Tube under the railway bridge then left into Acton Lane.  Poor souls waiting at TGT and The Avenue/Southfield Rd.

That photo on the article that claims to be Fishers Lane isn’t Fishers Lane, there’s no walkway and it doesn’t even look like Fishers Lane!

Traffic chaos, underpass underwater, cars drowned to their bonnets, lives at risk, and all Carl can offer is “No, don't know and don't care. Fine them.”We need some sensible people to look at what’s happening to Chiswick and Ealing.

the pic is of Acton Lane on the W3 / W4 border

Like I said, if drivers are stupid enough to drive through a flood, they deserve what they get. Morons. My view is jaundiced by walking along Devonshire Road yesterday and every second seeing some idiot that ignored the signs. If you are thick enough to drive through a flood, don't expect sympathy.

Carl Wynne ● 1931d

Moronic seems to sum up the lack of planning, the arbitrary closure, and the refusal to really listen. Now on the latter, what was that % opposed to the closure in various feedback?I guess Carl thinks they’re the morons, and he’s the bright lad.

Russell Pearson ● 1931d

Moronic is driving through a forbidden pass sign or flood and then whining about the outcome. Any idea as to which Onesie is the latest data gathering vandal?

Carl Wynne ● 1931d

So before you start criticising Carl look a bit more closely at the incorrectly named photo!

Fiona Campbell ● 1931d

> Any idea as to which Onesie is the latest data data gathering vandal? Please explain what you mean by ‘Onesie’ and the vandal allegations.

Russell Pearson ● 1931d

Picture on the front page taken from Acton side of Acton Lane which got deeper later and was closed off by the Police.A lot of drivers were taking risks driving through it.Fishers Lane was also flooded and I saw a car go through it, I think he was lucky not to have got stuck.

The clue is in the road name......

I realise that you have strong views Carl but if you find yourself in a traffic jam for over an hour (as we did yesterday evening) and almost home after 3 hours on the motorway desperately in need of a loo stop you will probably chance it.  We didn’t have children (small or otherwise) the dog also needed to go - easy to deal with, just popped her into the park, but poor cat got very vociferous about his need after 4 hours in a crate. Stressful.

LB Ealing this evening employed a contractor to pump out the water from FL and clean out the drains etc - job now complete. As I was walking through to South Parade a driver swung round into FL only to spot the tanker and have to reverse out again. He smiled as we made eye contact, obviously unaware why I was smiling (he'd already passed the camera) - I wonder if he'll get a ticket, considering he didn't actually drive right through?Maybe not, but I'd like to think he'll at least get caught out soon enough for driving one-handed with his phone clamped to his ear.

Before the recent flood I posted 3 separate instances of flooding under Fishers Lane bridge on Love Clean Streets app. When are Ealing and Hounslow going to get together to sort out the drainage problem? They did put in new drains but they need weekly cleaning as get silted up very quickly and as the road remains a bus lane it should be a priority. As a pedestrian I now can use the road with care and so avoid problems of social distancing that the narrow walk way presents.

"When are Ealing and Hounslow going to get together to sort out the drainage problem?" It's an Ealing problem. You can see from this photo (2019, Google) that the drains are in Ealing territory. (The boundary with Hounslow is where the yellow lines start.)

... well, you could see it if the "new" version of the forum would allow me to post a photo, but it's not working this morning.   Basically the boundary is the southern edge of the railway, so all the bridges and the drains are in Ealing territory.

Apologies for multiple messages.  The 'new' site told me that the last 3 messages had failed, even the last text-only one.
