Has anyone recently has their window replaced, and if so, can they recommend a reliable and reasonably priced supplier? Thanks in advance for any feedback and recommendations

Would highly recommend DG Solutions www.dgsolutions.co.uk 0343 2100 778. They did our windows in a day - minimum disruption and hardly any dust! Very good.

You can of course just replace the sealed double glazed glass if your frames are OK.A lot cheaper and kinder to the planet.Window Doctor based in Hayes provided me with first class service. 020 8581 0836. 07957 741246www.windowdoctorrepairs.com

Thank you so much everyone, please keep the recommendations coming. I'm wondering about wooden sashes at the front and UPVC at the back, but was thinking that companies probably only do one or the other. I prefer the look of timber frames, but am thinking the cost will probably be prohibitive.

It’s worth getting quotations from a few companies obviously. Most can give you options to reduce the costs.

For UPVC I would personally recommend (very highly) Ultralux in Whitton 020 8894 4540. For fabulous wooden sash cord windows (new or repair) The Sash Window Expert - Rupert Hardwick 07727 076588

Thank you. I intend to shop around, but given some of previous experiences, would prefer to ask companies that have delivered a good job for other people!

Do not use Henry & Sons - they're a phoenix company; go bust and change their name ever so slightly every few years

Don’t use Ultralux in Whitton i had a terrible experience, I do not recommend them.

Thank you for recommendations etc, I've bought a Which subscription to check out some of the larger names too. I think we'll be going with UPVC as it seems that these days the wood effect is much better than it used to be. I was a bit taken aback by the costs though, especially for wooden sashes. It seems that prices for everything have gone through the roof in the last year.

Another vote for Uktralux in Whitton. You can bargain heavily with windows company. Their mark up is enormous. So don’t be afraid to say you have had a much cheaper quote elsewhere and keep knocking them down. Some of the Composite windows now look like timber as they come with woodgrain finishes and in a variety of colours.

For sash windows I would highly recommend A Sash Window Wizard. Great job, good price
