Energy supplier recommendations

Hi there — NPower have shunted me over to E-On Next and my gas and electricity bills seem to have quadrupled. Can anybody recommend a good energy supplier who doesn't charge like a wounded rhino? Many thanks! CB x

Why not just use an switching service that automatically moves you to the best value deal?

Best do a search via an energy comparison website like Moneysupermarket or USwitch. Depending on your specific energy use, you may find that any recommendations given by forum members might not be the best value supplier for you at this time.

Some comparison sites just compare the companies who pay them!  Agree that moneysavingexpert.com has lots of good info.  A forum contributor had a bad experience with one of the sites that automatically changes you. Companies can change hands so one person's experience may not be the same as the next - and you can find out other people's feedback often by searching.I put this on one of Chris' other thread headings but then saw Francis had posted on this one:https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/energy-companies/article/energy-companies/which-energy-survey-results-ajqM43e6ycY8

I use Flipper, currently flipped to Green as best deal

why wouldn't you just investigate first with E-on by looking at your bills or phoning them. I was with Npower. I got all the comms about the changeover. I got the notifications about  keeping same tariffs. I got changed over finally. My bills are no bigger than they were. You might have been on a very good deal which naturally came to an end near your change over, and you might have been moved to an out of contract standard tarriff. we all generally pay about 15 to 18p pKwr. I don't know any energy suppliers that charge 72p pKwhr and get to stay in business.

Igloo.  Best I have come across by a long stretch.

Well im on standard tariff for both electric and gas with SSE Both are seperate accounts. Ive yet again given this thread done the two major price comparrison websites again like i did about 6 months ago and the cheapest for me is octopus coming in at an extra £1.22. So i dont bother,or am i missing something given im on separate accs with same supplier on standard tariff

Chris i really do my homework on this every couple of years. Octopus was best a couple of months ago at 2.79p per kWh for gas and 15.09p per kWh Electric. plus 20p each per day standing charge. I chose to pay 100 per month and am loads in credit.

I think Octopus are looking very good, will make the change next week!

Chris, Did you not take a look at Outfox the Market then? When I put it through uswitch it constantly comes up as being unable to get a better deal but I suppose that does depend upon your consumption
