Jacqueline makes a fair point.  I'm double jabbed, my Mrs. has had neither, primarily because she shares the same concerns as Jacqueline.  I'm double jabbed simply because I think it's a necessity to be able to enable me to have a normal life going forward, and because I personally regard the stories about people dying or becoming seriously ill after having a jab the same way I treat people scaremongering about the crowds at Wembley yesterday or such like.As I keep saying to my Mrs., she's going to have to have the vaccine soon because otherwise I'll be taking somebody else skiing this winter.  So I'd be lying if I said that I've had my jabs for any reason other than my own selfish interests, nothing else, and I really don't buy this notion that other people do so out of some deep seating care for the rest of the human race. We've already delayed 'freedom day' by a month and for me it's time to let everyone out to play and what will be will be.  Yes, there will be a minority of inconsiderate idiots, but there always are no matter what (in every walk of life), and the rest of us shouldn't have our lives dictated by the actions of a minority.  If people don't feel safe to go out, or go to work, then well, to be blunt that's just tough - after 15 months of maintaining a business without any government support I'm damned if Joe Bloggs who has been sat at home furloughed for the last year is going to preach to me.Show me one country that has succeeded in dealing with covid, how can anyone credibly sing the praises of New Zealand or Australia when they're locking down big chunks of the population again because of a tiny cluster of cases, all because their vaccination programmes are so poor ?.If infection rates here are surging (and I'm not convinced at this moment in time that we are going to get to anything like 100k new cases) but deaths and hospitalisations are remaining low then that's as good as it can get in the circumstances.  Not it's not ideal, but as I keep saying what is the workable alternative ?.

True Stewart, but then again some people would argue that smokers shouldn't expect the NHS to look after them, so it would be completely contrary to everything else if people who had chosen not to vaccinated were declined medical treatment. In a similar vein, where's the 'justice' in someone like me who through hard work has a business that generates over £50k a year and battles their way through covid without any support, whilst there's been millions of employees and the self-employed receiving either furlough money or up to £31k in 'freebies' in SEISS ?.I agree with you about 'freedom day', it's a misnomer and it'll make very little if any difference to my days or nights.  But personally at some point to me one has to say "enough is enough" and, perhaps in a warped way, I can see the logic of doing so at a time when infections are rising, because we'll be able to establish whether there's suddenly an explosion of cases resulting from those further relaxations or not.I would add that 3 weeks ago I was in the Czech Republic for a week (not on holiday - indeed I would have been prevented from flying at the gate had it been for pleasure)_and to some extent there it was a complete free for all in terms of both restrictions imposed and also how people conducted themselves, and yet their infection rates haven't (as yet) shot up again.I still personally think the biggest influence on covid is how people live, I had the 'pleasure' of spending some time last week in Walthamstow and Woolwich town centres undertaking survey work, and suffice to say I'm very happy that I don't live in the built-up part of a big city anymore.

A very balanced view Adam that hits all the right notes with me.Throughout this lockdown I have lost everything. My business has been destroyed and now I’m unemployed and finding it incredibly difficult starting again at my time of life. These lockdown are having a detrimental effect on far more people than those who have died from COVID, who have had no previous underlying health conditions.Poverty, mental health and education along with the economy has been crushed and people are suffering dreadfully.I’m having trouble putting food on the table and the bills are piling up.At the moment, I have no life to speak of and it’s soul destroying.I am not alone. The solution has become far more of a curse than the illness itself.FYI, I wrote to West Mid Hospital and under the freedom of information act, I asked how many people, with no underlying health conditions or medical treatment have died from COVID.  There answer was 2.Autopsies came to a halt and almost everybody who died, died of COVID.No matter what their underlying health conditions were… it was all COVID.As for COVID, this disease/illness/virus or whatever you want to call it has never ever been isolated.  We are to believe COVID exists yet it has never been proven.  I’m not saying there is a bad flu going around that has affected many people, that is true, but this country has come to a standstill at times for something not yet proven or isolated. Can somebody please post evidence on here that COVID has actually been isolated and proven… that will shut me up!Finally, there is a 99.7% recovery rate.  My own immune system offers more immunity than any vaccine on the market. If I do become unwell I would more than likely go to bed and try and recover, I would certainly not be out amongst people shopping or otherwise. I wouldn’t go out if I had the flu, I’d isolate as much as I could, as that is what the vast majority of us have always done during the flu season. Why can’t we be trusted to do the same?  Why must I be told by this nanny state what I can and cannot do?What happened to common sense? We are going into another lockdown, it’s inevitable, flu season will be upon us in a couple of months but lockdown could be as soon as august. How many more lives have to be destroyed? How much longer can I survive?I feel we really do need to start looking at the bigger picture here.
