533 bus service

I and fellow residents near the Hogarth Roundabout are very upset at losing the well used fast link to Hammersmith provided by the 533. The 190 is far slower and not very reliable, particularly during peak hours. Does anyone else have similar concerns?I am hard put to understand how taking away these stops north of the river has a commensurate benefit to people south of it, as TfL claims in justifying this service reduction.

I FULLY Agree - these stops on the 533 route on the A316 have been a God-send.  The 190 bus is extremely bad at time keeping, you can wait over an hour especially in rush hours.  HOW DOES ONE GET THIS MESSAGE THROUGH TO TFL?  Are any Councillors listening?  Please keep the 533 stopping on the A316.

I can understand TFL's point that if we use the 533 from Hammersmith we could be filling the bus and not allowing space for people who want to go to Barnes of Mortlake.  Also by not stopping at 4 or 4 stops it will speed up the journey.The introduction of the 533 before COVID has shown that we need a better bus service for this area as it shortened the journey time getting to many places across London.TFL need to look into what can be done to improve our bus service.Does the 190 need to go via Chiswick Hight Road?

Who on earth thought this up? Absolute madness. Cutting out 3 or stops impacts on residents off Hogarth roundabout , Edensor Road Staveley Road etc, And how much quicker will it be? Not more than a few minutes.

There has been no consultation, alas. Our local councillor has been supportive and there is also a petition live at http://petitions.hounslow.gov.uk/Keep533Chiswick/. If you support this, please spread the word.

Chiswick lost the 27's and now about to lose the 533 too which although it goes along the A4 it moves and avoids the stand still between Ravenscourt Park and Chiswick Lane on the 190 and the other local bus routes

Since it was brought in to lessen the effects of  Hammersmith Bridge closure they might at least have waited til it re-opens again ( might be a long wait).

At 2pm today Google maps said it would take 8 minutes from Hammersmith Bus station to Hogarth Roundabout on the 533 and 30 minutes on the 190It also showed it was 29 minutes to walk.We need to keep the 533 stopping on the A316 or ask TFL to route the 190 by the A4.

I was in the 533 bus at 2.30 yesterday and it was so full it didn’t stop at Hammersmith Bridge stop. And the decision to make it an express definitely needs rethinking.

TfL are determined to decimate Chiswick’s access to buses.The change of route to the 440 is a daily trial that leaves the Chiswick part of Bollo Lane without any bus route whatsoever. As you say the 27 has gone. The 94 is threatened to finish at the Marble Arch end of Bayswater Rd. Now the 533.If, for the sake of climate change, we are to put up with LTNs, fewer cars, then TfL simply have to understand that buses are a necessary part of the equation and that ill planned cycle routes, or even well planned cycle routes, are not the answer for everyone. Yet Ealing and Hounslow show no sign whatsoever of recognising this nor working on it together. As for consultation......

Double deckers have been considered by TfL but apparently there is a safety issue with the height of the railway bridge at Barnes Bridge Station.  The required safe height clearance for double deckers is only possible in the very centre of the road and part of the bus in each direction would need to be on the wrong side of the road.  TfL have ruled this out during the daytime when traffic is heavier.  Double deckers do currently go under the bridge since night bus route N22 is a double decker, but it operates much less frequently than the 533 and only at night when the traffic is very light and moving into the centre of the road is not likely to obstruct oncoming traffic.So we are stuck with single deckers.

Thank you JohnPlease let us know if Nick Rogers gets a reply to his letter.Google maps is showing the journey from Hammersmith Bus station to Hogarth Roundabout at over 30 minutes on the 190 at times compared to under 8 minutes on the 533 when it stopped here.

With Hammersmith Bridge opening today the demand for the 533 will probably drop dramatically and TFL could allow it to stop along the A316 again.

I live in Paxton Road very near the Hogarth Roundabout bus stop (which was an absolute godsend to get to Hammersmith quickly) and I witnessed the 533 pull into the stop and wait there for a few minutes (obviously not letting any waiting passengers on)  Presumably this is to time regulate the service because it’s missing out so many stops now.    This is pure madness!  I’ve signed the petition already, but does anyone know anybody in TFL we can badger about this??    We have virtually no bus services as it is!

Hi JohnThee 533 no longer stops along the A316 so we have lost a vital link to Hammersmith and beyond.  The journey time from Hammersmith Bus station to the Hogarth Roundabout can be 30 minutes by the 190 and just 8 minutes by the 533The bus will be essential to those people in Barnes and Mortlake who can't walk across the bridge.

Now that Hammersmith Bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists there does not seem to be a logical reason for the 533 not to stop along the A316.I regularly see the 533 going along with very few passengers on it.Is the petition still open please?

I really miss the website www.fixmytransport.com which was a sister site to www.fixmystreet.com.  You could find other people travelling the same streets as you and discuss and throw ideas in the air re the services that there are and how improvements can be made.  Destinations change so travel services need to change.

Nick Rogers our GLA member wrote to the deputy mayor responsible She said she'd get a fresh review of its passenger use without the Chiswick stopping points.Nick has written back highlighting the  Dep Mayor's error
