Chiswick Town Hall Garden

Just read elsewhere on this site that Abundance is handing responsibility for looking after the garden - at the corner of Heathfield Terrace and Sutton Court Road - to the council. Many thanks to Abundance, which has done a great job with the site, and here's hoping that the Borough can maintain the same high standard.

Agreed. The team transformed the spot and have maintained it beautifully. Many thanks to all involved.

My experience with LBH and gardens such as this is not good. The team does not know a specimen from a weed and they remove what they see fit. They also have a very limited list of approved plants. As and when things need replacing their is no telling what will happen. The better option would be Friends of TG taking it over to maintain the asset it is. I'm curious as to why Abundance took this step.

It's a beautiful garden and I hope all the hard work and plants that Abundance invested in it will live on with the support of LBH. I look at the garden every time I walk to the bus stop, it really is a piece of beauty.

If Abundance is really going to hand over this garden perhaps they could be persuaded to publish a planting plan so whoever takes over knows what has been planted there. Everybody nowadays should be able to find out what is there easily then instead of just leaving the plants to the mercy of those who don't recognise them.

As I recall there was once some planting done around the Hogarth Roundabout. Unfortunately one day some contractors for the council showed up complete with strimmers and the whole lot was gone in a trice. It's important that proper instructions are passed on to whoever will now be responsible for managing the maintenance at the Town Hall.

Just back from Hillingdon. There are a couple of roundabouts absolutely full of 3ft high poppies and cornflowers. Wonderfully summery. Glad that cutting everything in sight is out of fashion.
