Thank you, Tom, for bringing to light Stuart's DARVO behavior. It is a direct page from his playbook. One you, Paul, Michael et al have dog-eared numerous times over the years.Unlike others, I'm no arm chair psychologist. Nor would I want to weaponize anyone's mental struggles as many here are wont to do. But you're citing DARVO when you tick the boxes is quite remarkable. Perhaps it's even clinical. But I had a look at the Wikipedia page not to mention a few footnotes. Most compelling is the one where the woman who coined the phrase uses Donald Trump's defense as an example of DARVO behavior. Not that I knew it at the time, but I used p___y grabbing as an example so you've vindicated me. Again, my thanks.Having spent nearly a lifetime learning and avoiding oppressive language and behaviors, I'm not going to apologize for calling them out. It's most typical when those who use the technique double down as we have just seen here. This quote from Jennifer Freyd which you neglected to include is poignant:"...I have observed that actual abusers threaten, bully and make a nightmare for anyone who holds them accountable or asks them to change their abusive behavior. This attack, intended to chill and terrify, typically includes threats of law suits, overt and covert attacks on the whistle-blower's credibility, and so on. The attack will often take the form of focusing on ridiculing the person who attempts to hold the offender accountable. [...] [T]he offender rapidly creates the impression that the abuser is the wronged one, while the victim or concerned observer is the offender. Figure and ground are completely reversed. [...] The offender is on the offense and the person attempting to hold the offender accountable is put on the defense"Other articles point specifically to financial threats (read boycott, I'm not going there, etc.) made against the whistle blower - a tag I loathe but one I'm happy to wear. Another interesting read is from Metro: https://metro.co.uk/2020/06/13/guide-darvo-gaslighting-response-people-give-when-called-bad-behaviour-12847680/?ito=cbshareAs I see it, Tom, you've just tipped your hand. And as the Metro article says, knowledge is power and the more people know about DARVO the less effective it becomes. I simply pushed things in that direction. You perpetuated them. In one instance the law was on my side and in the other the protocol of the forum was on my side. You've cancelled me so much even I don't know which was is up so what I say simply can't matter to you. Yet it does.Know this: I did not ask the forum to ban Stuart. Verbatim what I said in an email to the forum was "A bit much if you're at all concerned about decency" with regard to Stuart's posting of "Outsider Pussy Twat."You won't believe me but it was fun to type nonetheless. I know several people did appeal to the editors on my behalf and I have extended my thanks personally and will do so now publicly for their efforts. They did so of their own accord. They were concerned for me. I told them not to be as I don't suffer fools and there seems to be plenty of them locally. Threats like Ben's don't phase me though I know he wishes they would. We've thrived despite his lack of custom. We've even managed to give back to the community. Plus we've survived the Paulo Campbell COVID 2020 boycott even though I've not been shy about my opinion on many transport measures. I'd like Robert to explain how "hissy" "prissy" and "outsider pussy twat" is acceptable language and how the two former are not at all tilting toward homophobia. I'd imagine he'll go with the humor trope on that and blame me and my lack of blah blah blah and clinical whatsit diagnosis made by him using a barge pole.If this is the best shot you all have to give, try harder. But thus far we have:Outsider Pussy Twat: 2Trolls: 0

It seems to me that some people commenting here can't be aware of the full facts as the post which evidently led to suspension has been removed. It was drawn to my attention by another reader of this forum who has legal training who said it put Stuart Kerr at serious risk of police action particularly as David Lesniak had made a vexatious complaint of criminal wrong-doing against a member of this forum before. The bar for what could constitute a hate crime these days is set quite low and there is no doubt that if a formal complaint had been made that the post was homophobic the police would have felt obliged to act. A defence that it was meant as a joke would not stand. If you make an offensive comment about someone while at the same time, even implicitly referring to their race or sexual preferences you render yourself liable to criminal prosecution. It appears that in this case Mr Lesniak or anyone else did not take the matter further. Informed opinion on this is that if they had the police probably would have knocked on his door and asked Stuart Kerr to accept a caution.Stuart Kerr isn't a criminal and it would be outrageous if he was to get a record for what he wrote but that is the way the police are interpreting the law at the moment. By the same token he is no sort of free speech warrior and some people seem to be willing to endorse homophobic comments as long as they are directed against an individual they don't like. He has been done a big favour that the comments he made have been removed as it makes it much more difficult for the police to act if they are not extant. He probably will also benefit from a period offline - he is unlikely to ever stop being aggressively confrontational with people who get on the wrong side of him so he should take the time to familiarise himself with the laws governing online comments.
