Come on James! Eurovision 21

I thought the U.K. entry was particularly good…And Malta was stunning!

I am not watching this as such, have just dipped into it(am waiting for Rebus, haven't seen the one that's being shown) and I caught the UK entry.Dreadful.Just seen the Dutch entry,marked improvement on ours.

I think France has it. Italy 2nd….followed by Lithuania, Malta…and triumph of hope over experience, U.K.

You missed some really good ones if you thought Netherlands was good!If you win one year, you are cursed for null points the following ( Portugal, Austria), and I’m afraid the Dutch entry isn’t great.

Im watching and i thought James was not only rubbish but not eurovision My money is on Ukraine,finland switerland, iceland. The two with a big profit are Malta and Finland. Dodge italy and france and im quids in. Cmon Malta and Finland

The U.K. team have been pretty good in pre promoting the song which is quite catchy. And James is a likeable chap. I think it will do better than we think, but about to be proved wrong I’m sure :-)Ukraine were good…and big sympathy vote after being invaded by the Russians.

I had a bet on Italy to win and France top 5…so not bad. Also a tenner on U.K. to hit top 5 at 100 to 1…but oh well. I think that’s terribly unfair on James. He didn’t deserve zero. I know the U.K. isn’t popular because of Brexit, but even the Israelis did better and they’re not exactly flavour of the moment.

I agree.  It wasn’t fair. I guess we just have to take it on the chin and hope we don’t do anything else to piss off the entire of Europe!

UK should just quit Eurovision just like Hungary, Slovakia and Luxembourg did.

We are not a nation of music anymore. Sir Simon Rattle has gone to Germany. Mind you we could not begin to compete with the Berlin Phil. I did not realise the UK does not have one world class concert hall. That sums it it up.

"We are not a nation of music anymore." How does the UK's dismal record in the Eurovision song contest define us as a nation of music. What about our world-class orchestras (Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English Chamber Orchestra, LPO, to name but a few)? Give me artists over halls.

Thought Rattle left Berlin a number of years ago and is now director of music for the London Symphony Orchestra.

And Sir Simon is not going back to the Berlin Philharmonic, but rather the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, in Munich, in 2023.This is a four hour train ride from his home in Berlin.He is still with the London Symphony, until 2023, although with Germany locking borders with the UK, how he will cope remains to be seen.He said "I love the London Symphony Orchestra. I remain committed to the LSO, and we have plans for major projects in the coming years. I am thrilled that we will be making music together far into the future."

"Germany locking borders" is, hopefully, just a short-term problem. Of more concern to him must be the bureaucratic difficulties of touring with a British orchestra post-Brexit.
