More tower blocks for Acton-on-Hudson 93 Bollo Lane

Another day, another development. In addition to Tfl at Bollo Lane; the towers on the side of the road between Chiswick Auctions and Blissetts the bookbinders (already demolished) ; the tip site in Sterling Road; Henley Developments, and now the latest at 93 Bollo Lane opposite the eyesore Pocket development at 100 Bollo Lane, a 12-storey monstrosity containing 95 new homes. Generously 35% will be designated ‘affordable’ .,.No one listens. Residents object but Ealing Council rides roughshod over all opinions including the residents of Acton Gardens whose own buildings will be dwarfed by these towering developments. Interesting that the developer uses high tech CGi for visualisations of the ground floor level where the commercial space is but gets a six year old child to draw the building from a broader perspective that gives some sense of the huge scale.

All of the developments planned including this have the highest parts on the Chiswick side.Although it's on Ealing land they're cashing in on the popularity of Chiswick. They're just surrounding Chiswick with concrete monstrosities.

This looks like another cynical and speculative application to fling up a residential tower block on a bit of industrial land in South Acton, now the precedent has been set by the Pocket Homes opposite and the big TfL development all along the Bollo Lane railway embankment. Perhaps Ealing Council's new leader and his team will take a more robust view of this proposal, which seems to respect no overarching plan or scheme.

Just to avoid confusion, Hudson Square is the name for the proposed development on the B&Q site at Chiswick Roundabout, named after the car factory that once stood there. It is some way away from "Acton-on-Hudson" at Bollo Lane.

In part that lack of overarching plan/scheme is down to the Mayor not having one. The magnitude of development all around the city deserves an actual urban plan, not just a directive to build and build and build more homes. But that would require vision and leadership. Oh well.

Richard. One of the outer walls of the old Hudson Car factory still stand on the Great West Road side of the B&Q site.The distinctive red wall is a reminder of the Area's past. As Lidl say "when it's gone..it's gone!
