Congratulations to Chiswick School!

Well done to all the members of staff at Chiswick School for being nominated for the TES Secondary School of the year! This is a fantastic achievement and reflects how much the school has improved its provision for its students over the last few years. We have all read about the huge lengths the school went to over lockdown to ensure all students had access to computer equipment, meals etc. I am writing merely as an ex-parent (both our boys, now in their mid-twenties, attended the school) but just wanted to say how great it is to have some local news which can make us all feel proud.

Totally agree, Sarah.  Well done to the Head, staff and pupils of Chiswick School for this prestigious nomination.

Many congratulations! I’m an ex-pupil parent and I am very grateful to the team of teachers when my son was a student there few years ago.Well done Chiswick School!

Brilliant - I remember it from the early 70s and it was a far cry indeed from now

They should all get a detention for going on the old cedar tree with the signage not to go on it.

The Girls Grammar School amalgamated with the Boys Grammar (next door) many years ago. .and soon both will be celebrating their separate Centenarys. (Excuse the grammar!)So the current achievement is timely. Well done.

For some 90 years..thousands  have attended Chiswick's top School and hundreds of talented pupils left and have achieved great things since. We're not just talking about pop stars or jazz musicians, thespians of note or top TV Executives, world record holding sprinters or sensational pole vaulters, a chap who eloped with a famous Russian ballerina and others who studied Advanced Level Latin, Serbo-Croat and more. The great things is having friendships still live after some 70 and more years via our Old School Football,Cricket and Rugby Clubs."Up the Old Meadonians"Well done School.Old motto: Semper Sersum.

A fantastic achievement and some great local news.

This is quite a turnaround and the school deserves to be applauded. One wonders if such an accolade will persuade more pupils resident in Chiswick to attend their local school.

Stewart Jones ● 1985d

I bet it will Stewart, judging from how many of our neighbours' children (and their friends) have put Chiswick as their 'first choice' for September.

Sarah Boulding ● 1984d

That’s great to hear.

It wasn't so bad in the mid seventies. We had some great teachers and rugby coaches.Mr Miller (form tutor and Street Legal badge wearer) ,Miss Ellis,Mr Tank (Latin),Mr Stamp (science teacher)and not forgetting ,Mr Reynolds,Mr Troke and Mr Harry (I'm 50/50 about him),the rugby coaches.Chiswick School was and still is a great melting pot of children from all sorts of backgrounds and ethnicities.

Great news. All 3 went and all have moved on with one doing further education with the other two getting  First-Class Honours and later diplomas. All down to a few names at the school getting it right for a school to educate well in many areas and pupils to do well later in life. One could say that another school would have given another result. Mind you, it's who you get in with that can matter.Again, congratulations and fingers crossedBut take no notice from me, I'm a parent who is an ‘unhinged pro-cycling campaigner’ and goes around blowing up shops in spoof videos.Oh god, I'm such a bad parent.

I believe the oldest ex-pupil still around...and living in Chiswick is Mr Brian Tesler CBE who reached the top in the TV industry. See Google entries.

Was it in the local papers??
