Adrian Irving - William Munro - scam email wanting Google Play Card purchased

Just be warned that the email address which has been used via the forum for Adrian Irving appears to have been hacked or misused. I received an email this afternoon from williamunro@gmail but signed off Adrian Irving. I emailed Adrian Irving via the PM facility on this site attempting to ascertain if it was indeed Adrian. The 'Yeah the email was from me' response didn't seem plausible but I asked what I could do to help and was then asked to purchase a google play card for a friend .....blah blah blah. Just to let you know that being a W4 forumer you might also receive something similar.

Hi Adrian - FYI we emailed briefly early March 2019 regarding a car/garage which is how I became part of this issue. I hope its all resolved swiftly for you.

I got one of these just before Christmas last year. Something along the lines of 'can you buy an iTunes gift card as a Christmas present for my niece and I'll pay you back'. The poster got really shirty when I asked for evidence & finally stopped.Almost had me for few moments though.Sent the details to the Met phishing site:https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/information/report-suspicious-emails

Joy, I remember now.I am still awaiting BT to report in the meantime I have run a full scan (Bullguard) with nothing detected. Also I have dropped off the desktop to have it double checked by an expert. Now I am wondering if the problem is with my Amazon Fire tablet. The upshot is however, still no email.

When you speak next to BT ask for their assurance that you are on the 'new' mail platform and not the old BT Yahoo one. This is (or at least was) so full of security holes that it was embarrassing. It routinely made the computer press for repeat news of breaches in security protocols.
