Hurrah ! Little Dobbies garden centre opening in Chiswick

At last a new addition to Chiswick High Road that isn't a cafe or restaurant.

... which is soon to open at the old premises of The Bread Shop.  Hoji is an Asian food store, which I will certainly welcome, saving me the trip to Thai Smile maybe.And, also spotted on my High Road trip yesterday - Republic, taking over the old Hedone premises, bang opposite The Italians.  It will be an Indian restaurant with a contemporary vibe.  I’m sure we all wish these newcomers every success.

Good news about the Asian food store, it will be interesting to see if they have the same range as Thai Smile.Republic has been open for takeaways for the last 6 months or so. Recommended - a level above the typical high street curry shop.

With the new deli on Devonshire Road that's four more opportunities for OneChiswick's "Hounslow is destroying Chiswick" poster to be displayed.They were getting a little thin on the ground.

Keeping it positive, looking forward to this bar opening as well in the former Sams Brasserie location.It's not connected to the Harrogate tea house but a mini-chain of bars with a Charlotte in Southwark, Heidi in Balham and Hannah in Battersea

Excellent. I hope our local councillors will welcome another sign of this retail renaissance of Chiswick and that the doom-laden predictions on those few increasingly bedraggled posters failed to materialise.

Good luck to all these new ventures.I've a feeling Little Dobbies will do very good business in the High Road without being much use to gardeners..

This looks great,  both Hannah in Battersea and Heidi in Balham have outdoor seating so I imagine Bettys will be opting for that option too which is really ideal in that alleyway.

Outdoor dining and drinking in a street with traffic restrictions you say? What an excellent idea. This might catch on. Bring on Betty's.

Pay attention, Paul. Betty's might have a tough go of it putting  tables on the street. Sam fought for ages to get that and Foxlow wasn't able to survive even with that in place though it didn't seem to take advantage of it. For now, residents that did object to previous attempts are currently silenced by the new legislation which stays in place until September 2022.

No 42, where Evans and Peel used to be. As empty shops fill up a virtuous cycle is being established. Even some of the more initially sceptical shopkeepers now admit Devonshire Road is much improved with higher footfall.
