David, I would be very surprised if anyone on here wished anything but great success for your's and every other business in Chiswick - and in case you missed it (!) I congratulated you on your expansion to Hammersmith and I'm looking forward to visiting! I think sometimes you clash with people who don't follow a "Chiswick First" agenda and, dare I say it, a "Car First" agenda. Gordon's comment about Chiswick businesses being there to make money wasn't critical of them for wanting to turn a profit, it was in the context of your suggestion that the recent fairs were good for Chiswick if they were run by people in Chiswick and bad for Chiswick if they were run by outsiders. That's not only nonsense, but also seems to forget the other stakeholders in this - the punters who come to spend their money at the fairs and with local businesses! We've spoken several times about my support for independent brands, some of whom have multiple channels including online and high street, some have stores but not in Chiswick and some bypass the high street altogether and deliver direct to customers.I am delighted to support any entrepreneur starting a brand as well as established independents and I don't think they deserve to be "othered" just because they're not in Chiswick or operate online.I have delivered our products by car, on foot - even by bike, but a large number go by post (one reason we moved to South Acton) and increasingly couriers, particularly since COVID decimated international post.My aim is to reduce our carbon footprint - and we certainly don't get a free ride (and that's our fault because we do talk about sustainability a lot so we're held to a high standard) and have voluntarily signed up to organic certification and in the process of getting (haven't got it yet, as I hope is clear!) B-Corp, which puts huge emphasis on sustainable growth. It isn't about being "woke", which is a cutting insult for anyone over the age of 40 (!), but giving a damn about more than just profit, which to refer back to yet another post, can actually make you more profitable anyway!
