Anyone noticed there’s no one on buses? Why is no-one asking whether they deserve to keep their dedicated lanes? Surely it would dramatically reduce congestion if the lanes were given back to cars?Also, pavements. Are they really suitable for the outer boroughs where everything is more spaced out? I’m not saying I believe in traffic evaporation, but if you replace pavements with extra car lanes, I think you’ll have a lot less demand for walking.

"Wake up at the back Ed, they ripped out the bus lane..."They got it half right then.  No-one using buses because of the pandemic....but they gave the lane to bikes and not back to cars.And I think you'll find there's still plenty of virgin bus lane down the Gunnersbury end.On Kew Bridge they took away the pavement and put in an extra lane....now they just need to remove the bus stops and remove the pavement on the other side too (they don't need both sides!!!)As has been said many times before, people, cars and bikes don't mix - and buses just slow everything down.  So the best thing to do is make it all car and finally put the dual carriageway down CHR. They started the WAR ON CARS - so let's show them the damage cars can really do!

As a Pedestrian some 90% of the time, the remainder is as a Motorist, I'm sick and tired of sharing pedestrian pavements with cyclists ! They now have a purpose built cycleway and roads, so why oh why are they still using pavements as well as pedestrian crossings  ?

The pavement has been relaid on the Western side of Kew Bridge and the road lanes are as before. I assumed the work on the bridge was to make a cycle lane on that side but there are still pavements both sides.

Additional southbound lane - so 4 lanes in total.  One of the pavements was reduced to make way.The remaining wider pavement is dual use for cyclists and pedestrians - as before.No segregated cycle lane - yet.....

Thank goodness! No cycle lane. Sense at last, as in Harrow. I think the writing is in the wall for all LTNs and inappropriate cycle lanes

Yes of course there was only one lane South before. The West side pavement is narrower which is why I noticed today waiting for a bus North at the stop on the Southern side of the bridge that passing cyclists on the pavement can run over your feet when you are sitting in the shelter! The bus shelter has been turned through 180 degrees so your legs face the road and now the sign inside points in the wrong direction South to Kew Bridge Station and North to Kew Green which must be confusing for visitors.

Talking of cycle lobby groups and spin. Just listened to yet another phone in on LBC about LTNs etc. They’re getting a huge amount of air time now thank goodness. Leader of some anti car group lying her head off saying the majority of Londoners want LTNs. Nick Ferrari was flabbergasted 😂

The question put to justify LTN's is usually along the lines of 'do you want the world to be a better place and safe for you and your children'. Ealing seems particularly evangelical about their universal curative properties, against which practical objections have little effect.

What was your objection to Redfield and Wilton, Bruce? There there polls seem to be consistent and independent of who, if anyone, commissioned the polling. Maggie I think LTN's are brilliant. Wish we could have one of those on our road. The LTN roads I have ridden are certainly safe, clean and quiet now the "rat runners" are gone. Long may it continue !!

These surveys do not correctly reflect the views of those who live in a heavy LTN area. In Northfields/West Ealing/North Brentford you cannot go east to west or vice versa apart from using Uxbridge Road,(north) Swyncombe Ave (Middle) or the A4 (south).Hounslow Council are now looking at even closing Swyncombe due to so many complaints!Have a look on a map, its an absolute nightmare.  Longer journeys, extra travel cost, frustration, congestion and pollution on so called boundary residential roads. On top of this many fines are being issued to those not in the know by driving through poorly signed confusing restriction barriers.There is a march organized this Saturday. Last time is was about 3,000....this time will be more.

Hartington in the rush hour, not seen any difference along Thames Road. Traffic speeds increased. Traffic moved to other roads too - avoid Burlington. Staveley risky going out as cars come round by the blockade at speed as hey think it’s right of way, so need to be careful there. No fun at the other end either with the buses.

Russell, I cycle there Staveley, Hartington, Thames roads outside of rush hours and when they are much quieter. Surely if rat runners are still using Thames Rd and Hartington Rd at rush hour their fines must be going sky high at £130 a time...WOW !

This has been a problem for years but there has always been very heavy lobbying by certain people against reducing air pollution because it means reducing the numbers of vehicles on the roads.I remember drivers in Paris only being allowed to drive every other day because of air pollution.They have another system now in Paris.https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/motoring-news/law-change-for-uk-drivers-in-french-cities/
