Ed, your post for someone who generally seems to follow a sensible line is embarrassing. its not project fear, indeed your need to invoke such cr*p shows how desperate you must be.See the separate thread about the new bus gate, its creating queues, pollution and worse diverting traffic onto residential roads. How many accidents must this cause to deliver your beloved 'temporary' CS9, how much more pollution must the unlucky residents on various impacted roads suffer? The idea that Tom will proved right is farcical. We have had various LTN, traffic management and bus priority schemes for 30 years, yet traffic is still terrible. No 'evaporation'. The data that Tom loves to cherry pick to indulge his fantasy show aggregate traffic volumes for every London borough and London overall. This shows traffic increaseing every year since around 2012. So when the fans are back in stadiums, cinemas open, and Heathrow well over the 10% capacity its at now, what will happen? Will all those families with suit cases think, OMG, cancel the Uber, lets take the cargo bikes to the airport. Brentford's new stadium alone as over 1000 offical car parking places in W4, even before we think of the mass of on street parking (there is still no sign of any event day parking restrictions in W4). Why not start looking at the causes and source of traffic rather than impose schemes which can only worsen congestion.I actually want cleaner air for all, reduced congestion and more sustainable transport. Some difficult choices will need to be made. But the current CS9 on the cheap (a major contrast to the full version that has been delivered for Kew Bridge, where the road was even wideded..!!!), is a mass that creates queues and congestion.
