Recommendations for laser eye surgery

Has anybody had laser surgery blended vision I would like recommendations and an idea of cost

Call CLINICA - this clinic in Harley Street has many special;ists - I've just been treated by https://www.clinicalondon.co.uk/consultants/laura-crawley/ and am delighted with the results however, she may not be the right specialist for your condition.  Phone them - "Our friendly team is happy to answer your questions no matter how small. The best way to understand your options is to have a quick chat  020 7935 7990"      Ask about laser surgery blended vision.  They will be very helpful.

If I required such surgery, I would only ever go to Moorfields Eye hospital or the Western Eye hospital (Marylebone Road). Both take private patients. Good luck

I saw Alex Ionides at Moorfields. Very successful and I would do it again tomorrow. It was 7 or 8 years ago, so I can’t remember how much it cost, but I think probably less than I would have spent on glasses and sunglasses by now!

I had cataracts removed from both eyes at the Western Eye Hospital some years ago.  They replaced my eye's natural lenses with prescription ones, which was absolutely transformative after 60 years of wearing glasses. If only they could have done it when I was six rather than sixty!  Western is linked to Charing Cross as part of the Imperial College NHS Trust and the whole thing cost me nothing.

I'm also a recipient of the Western Eye Hospital's NHS treatment. I'm probably in the same age range as Peter, and I had both cataracts removed last year and now have what amounts to perfect vision - no glasses and able to read the smallest print without any problem. Can't praise them enough!

I had cataracts done at Kingston hospital after going to my opticians in East Sheen- I then a couple of years later in 2019 had probs with my left eye - my optician said ‘insist you go to roehampton st. Mary’s I did and had wonderful treatment all free - moorfields in roehampton - good luck . Yes

Moorfields clinics at Roehampton ceased just over a year ago....this may have been because of the Covid pandemic .... I’ve not yet found out as my last appointment (due in Feb) there was cancelled and I’ve yet to hear from them. I do however agree that Moorfields is excellent. Totally unrelated to my current issue I had my eyes lasered, blended vision, at London Vision Clinic in Harley St... by (Prof) Dan Reinstein who did an excellent job and the extremely thorough aftercare alerted me to the issue for which I’m being treated at Moorfields. Be warned though, your eyes start ‘ageing’ again after treatment so it’s not a permanent fix - I’m back to wearing specs... which became necessary about 9 yrs post op..... and I’ve been advised not to have mine redone due to my current ‘condition’. Further, I have been told by the ophthalmic consultant that because I’ve had my eyes lasered any future (inevitable) cataract surgery will need to be done by a specialist as the usual contour/measurement(?) of my eyes has been altered which is potentially likely to limit the usual success of such.

I started off asking CX Hospital about narrow angle galucoma and cataracts and was told to contact  The Western Eye hospital (Marylebone Road) and in particular Laura Crawley as narrow angle glaucoma is one of her specialities.  Several of the  consultants practice privately at the Clinica clinic.

The Western Opthalmic is incredible. I took my wife there for a condition that the doctor could not recognise. The doctor there diagnosed it in under five mins gave here a prescription and a leaflet about it. When she came out of the doctors room I asked her when they would be able to see her, she replied, they have seen me, it's all sorted. Incredible!!!!

Viv, it's a bit confusing, with several names mentioned in the letters to my doctor, but the consultant named on the letter referring to my second operation is Dr. Sally Ameen.

Be very careful.  I was very unhappy with the’blended’ result and still needed glasses (London vision clinic). .  My wife was happy.  I had floaters and an astigmatism, maybe this was why it didn’t work for me.  If you are used to  wearing glasses and having very good vision with glasses on, results may seem poor.

I actually had my cataracts done a couple of years ago at Moorfields but I'm disappointed with the result, very good long sight but pretty rotten near sight.  I have to wear glasses round my neck on a cord because I flip them on and off constantly.  I've managed to dodge glasses all my life by wearing contacts for 35 years, then have very successful laser surgery but I'm sure different cataract lenses might have been better for me.  I'd pay to have they replaced but I gather that surgery is pretty tricky.

I had my cataracts done at Kingston Hospital.After the op I can both see the pretty girls at a distance and read a number plate at 25 yards easily.  So don't have to lie to dvlc any more.But yes I have reading glasses....less than 10% of the cost of normal glasses and available off the shelf or online

My problem was that, after my successful eye surgery, family and friends all said 'you look really odd without glasses!' As I still needed some correction for reading I had a pair of varifocals made with plain glass in the top half to keep everyone happy, though it's still useful to do away with the glasses when the Covid mask steams them up!  Maybe one day I'll even learn to swim!

This is a problem I've had. I was so used to wearing face furniture in the form of glasses that even now I sometimes find myself putting my hand up to take them off. I was tempted to buy some glasses with plain lenses just so that I'd have something to wear on my face, but so far I've managed to resist the temptation.

I'm back with vari-focals but now the top bit is plain glass with middle distance and then reading lenses below.  I got fed up whipping different specs on and off.  Driving and walking about don't need any specs but but !  I still have a pair with just reading lenses for nighttime in bed reading.
