Is this part of your campaigning for the elections?

No way is that going to be saved I personally dont understand the need for a counter and i dont think anything points to higher crime in the near area to when it was open. It is people who think to much who i believe think it stops crime by being open or operational. More police, yes Maybe Tom has some data 😀

Excellent point - however personally I feel safer and more protected with a police station front desk open -

"I feel safer and more protected with a police station front desk open " For what may i ask,the front desk was for certain things one could do online which is why they moved to online. I use a phone in emergency. More police on foot and in cars gives you more security not a police station itself.
Julian, not everyone can use a phone, just sayin.

im sorry janice but we are in 2021 and while i get smart phone usage for some the idea of no phone is down to the person. If you need the police you ring 999 or 101,you dont run down the road to the police station.
I am a short petite woman without a car. And though I have a phone which I can barely afford, I currently have no credits to make an emergency call - and I mainly walk on the high st - many like me That’s why
Julian, some religions don't even allow the use of them, some people don't have one at all, it used to be a long drawn out process if you did use a Police Station, the option would be there though.
JC > "I currently have no credits to make an emergency call"Eh?From the Ofcom website:"Calls to 999, 111, 112, 119, 101 and 105 are free from all phones."

Some use text only, expect you could text someone for help if needed.
All sounds like finding a problem in the 21st century. Maybe get the police whistle out. Bit harsh but you have to move with the times and work with it.
Agree, if you are able or even can afford it, many people are still stuck with the cave men.
And what about my father and his contemporary who can’t see well to use a phone
I currently rely on my sports direct coffee mug
JC > "And what about my father and his contemporary who can’t see well to use a phone"But they're okay to nip down to the police station on Chiswick High Road in an emergency?
Think we are going off subject a little. Most people im saying phone the police if an emergency. These days the police turn up in a car and not on foot. That is not to say its a bad idea and having atleast 2 police on foot on every busy shopping road is a positive one. As to phones,If you have a fire you dont pop along on foot to the fire station.
The fire station only put out fires, if a woman is followed or attacked shewouldn't want to report it to a fire station, like the idea of 2 bobbies on every shopping street. Expect men feel relatively safe on the streets.
I'm just being daft today, or is it every day.....
Ha - have you ever tried calling 101? They usually tell you to fill out a form online - so a bit pointless. When its not a 999 emergency, but you want to speak to someone it's a nightmare. If you could wander down to a police station and speak to someone in person it would be so much easier.

Valid point J.M often difficult to actually talk to someone.
So why does the Hounslow Police Station still have an open counter?
Jim Lawes ● 2021d
I guess one reason, Jim, would be that Hounslow still has a custody suite, and they need a reception for custody visitors, appropriate adults, solicitors, FMEs, etc.

I once caught a guy urinating in the garden for all the world to see on a Tuesday afternoon. He stood facing the intersection. An interesting choice. He was drunk out of his mind and I confronted him. He was so out of it I thought I'd have a go at walking him up to the police station. He followed me to the door. At the time it was staffed albeit with the Hammersmith team who said they couldn't do anything about it. So I stood in Chiswick at the Chiswick police station with a public nuisance and a representative of Met Police said nothing could be done. I told the cop do better, it is precisely his job to address this sort of situation and walked away. The cop dealt with it. It was the quickest way to deal with a problem. A phone call would never have gotten any result let alone one so quick.
