Actually Jim if you look at my sole post on the other thread the main thrust of that post was to query why people respond so publicly to things like this.To give an example closer to my heart, some years ago when my Nana died one of my cousins, within a matter of hours of her death, was posting videos of her on social media, telling everyone how she'd died (which of course generated attention) and so forth. Myself and other members of the family were horrified because to us it's a private matter and my Nana would have hated everyone knowing her business and so forth. In doing so, my cousin didn't once think how her actions might upset the rest of the family, oh no, it was all "me me me, look at me, my Nana has died, come on everyone tell me how sorry you are for me".The same cousin has recently been all over the local media promoting a business she's opening and has been waxing lyrical about her supposed personal issues, despite having never shared or hinted at any such issues with her family. Which to me shows a complete lack of consideration for her parents, as she's tacitly suggested to the world that they weren't there for her or she couldn't turn to them. Indeed, the cynical side of me wonders if she's making it all up solely as a marketing backstory, which, if it is the case, is very 'sick'.And I increasingly perceive on forums like these the same 'me me me' agenda which I see on Facebook, whereby people will post or say things because they seemingly need support, attention and adulation from others because, I can only assume, they're either so insecure or so self-absorbed.And it's completely alien to me. The people that are important to me aren't on here or on social media. I've no desire for anyone on here to hate me (and if they do then that's their problem not mine) but I don't need or want people to agree with me or like me, and when a poster tells me to disappear because they don't share my opinion then I can only laugh at the absurdity of it.
