We are unsuitable for wheelies.  We have a green box for recycling which is usually full each fortnight and a small metal dustbin in which we put our other waste until the black bag is full - about every eight weeks. We don't tend to have any nappies otherwise we would put it out more often.  Anyway when we do we bag them before they go in the black sack. Nappies make a big difference to how you choose to manage your waste and recycling. The standard wheelies that LBE issued were absolutely enormous (bigger than the LBH ones) and those in divided houses who wanted to share were given an even larger one (which was not what they expected).  Unless you have nappies to dispose of you would expect to have more recycling than unrecyclable waste.  Could you manage with smaller wheelies - LBE told us all initially that they didn't have smaller ones - when they were visible in the front of some properties?LBE also now has the option of green bags for garden waste.  That was the main reason I used to go to Stirling Road - the other was to very rarely take used cooking oil - hardly ever  for anything else. The cooking oil is now going into a sealed container and then in the black sack.LBE has street banks for small electricals and LBH takes small electricals in a carrier bag kerbside.  Then there is this website:https://www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/and www.trashnothing.co.uk - an easy interface to Freecycleand the charity shops.Warning - mark up chargers and cables with what they are or you could go away for a night and find that while you've got your electric toothbrush with you the charger left behind will be swiftly despatched into a recycling bank!
