Driving advice needed

I occasionally play golf at Dukes Meadow (not that well I admit) and next week sees the course re-open. Coming out of Dan Mason Drive you now cannot go straight over as PRH have their cash machines installed to stop you. Can I go up the A316 to Staveley Road and turn left between 09:00 to 14:45 and then turn left past Chiswick station and up Sutton Court Road to Turnham Green and the past Sainsbury's to get to Acton without being flashed by a camera? Also what is the situation with turning off by Kew Bridge to go down Strand on the Green to get to the A316? Thanks

Peter - you have correctly described how you will have to avoid Hartington Road on your return from Dukes Meadow if you wish to avoid a PCN. If you turn into Strand on the Green from the A205 the situation is a little more confusing. The traffic order and the signage is in place so technically you be committing an offence. However (unless things have changed recently) there is no ANPR camera to record your misdemeanour.The detour that you have to make if you decide not to enter SOG is of course horrendous. You might like to confirm this information by emailing traffic@hounslow.gov.ukIt is time that we had a full public consultation on all these schemes. But of course the SOG one is not actually working yet because LBH failed to place the requisite for order for cameras in a timely manner.

Carry on North on the A316. Turn left when it meets the A4. Turn right by the Porsche garage. You know the way from there.

I was going to suggest the same - there's much less traffic at the moment and you're probably going to be faster on the A4 - even going up Gunnersbury Avenue depending on which bit of Acton you're heading to.  Can I ask a quick question of Cllr Sam about the Strand PCN?What's the time limit for staying in the Strand area to not count as pass through traffic?

Isn't it ridiculous that you can't just drive home as you usually would without having to make sure you have enough petrol first.

Ed, I asked Hounslow Council this very same question using a Freedom of Information request. They would not tell me, saying that to define a time period would encourage people to use the road!

You are not able to turn right at the Porsche garage from A4 you have to turn right into Sutton Court Road.

I wondered if they might be keeping it secret!I think 20-30 minutes is pretty legitimate - that's a coffee and a meeting before heading off to your next appointment.  Or a house viewing, 3-4 deliveries etc.Hardly anyone is going to drive in, park for 20 minutes to wait it out, then drive through.  An hour in the zone is a good round number and means you're spending substantial time there.If it is more than that, then you're just going to snare lots of residents and put people off visiting shops and businesses.Anyway - what's wrong with transparency?

I have a friend who lives in the permitted zone. However, if she had bought something for me in Kew, drove briefly into Grove Park to hand it over and then drove back home, she would be fined.

Best to stop and have a socially distanced chat with your friend and then she’ll be fine (and not fined)
