I inherited a kitten from a flat mate who got two from friends of ours.  I told him they are your cats so your responsibility I do not want a cat.  He was very good with them both and they were fed regularly had a lovely cane box to sleep in and a clean litter tray every morning.  One of the however did not seem interested in my flat mate or humans at all.  One Sunday I was watching the morning politics programs when she came into my room.  She jumped on my bed walked up my back and went to sleep on my shoulder next to my neck.  After that she stayed with me for 22 years until she got a brain tumor and she went to sleep in my arms at Battersea. A cat can be a excellent pet for children but it like dogs must be the right match.  It is a very good idea that someones ome is checked out and is safe.  If I asked for the kitten something I wish I could do it would be a disaster as my flat is being rebuilt and there are boxes everywhere.  Very unsafe for a kitten.  I will be getting a cat or a small dog When my flat is finished and I have full access to the outside world. I miss the companionship an animal can bring to a home and especially the emotional support they can be to people who live on their own.  I was adopted 4 years ago by the squirrels qho live in our garden but when the first lockdown came the local vixen thought our garden was the best place to have cubs and all the squirrels moved out. But I got to watch 4 beautiful and very funny fox cubs grow up everyday from my window.
