Had a call - she didn’t say my name - an 0208995 number- said I had probs with my direct debit- put the phone down- this was on landline - just worried about the real elderly with this...

A scam call from a Chiswick exchange would be unusual though it could be a disguise. Did you Google the number?

Sadly did not get the whole number as I had a genuine call straight after - will wait until I get the same call and will then look it up.

Get these calls re warranties etc. on various household stuff all the time- they have yet to get the make right! Anyway we don't take extended warranties out. Several calls re Amazon Prime this week, and this morning one about a debit card, all scams - drive you potty.

Does your phone not show calls received? Calling 1471 might also work - I presume that still exists but I haven't used it for years.

I get a call about once a week regarding washing machine insurance that I don't have. They have yet to be able to tell me the make of the machine.

My phone showed the number calling as being0208 850 3892But when I tried to call it back just says"The number you have dialled has not been recognised."  Not a surprise!

I had one of these calls recently from what was displayed as an 020 3769 number. Strangely the caller - real not automated, English accent - asked for me by name but used my wife's surname instead of mine. As the phone number has been in my name for many years this suggests that they are either working from a very old phone book, or been sold dodgy data by some equally unscrupulous outfit.

Also scams for B.T. Broadband and 02 mobile saying contracts due for renewal, also Texts from British Gas asking you to pay a bill.  Just besuspicious of any such calls its getting worse each day.
